I honestly don't mind the inclusion of this boss/moment, considering that you fight one of the best bosses in the series right after. The game seems to have a good balance of easy, gimmicky, cool, and difficult bosses. Can't please everybody though.

No, it's just how the boss is designed. It's the Dragon God/Bed of Chaos of the game, where the environment is the actual boss.

You must be one of those people who will defend your favourite games to the death, and shit all over any new ones that have any sort of feature that you dont like.
Pretty sad to be honest. Dark Souls 3 is pretty fun, despite what you seem to think, but if you really hate it so much, just go back to Final Fantasy VI :)

Dude clearly is on a high SL. This pretty much seems to be the Asylum Demon tutorial of Dark Souls 3 that teaches you about plunging attacks, except the guy may be on NG+.

Having an enemy that dies in one hit can't really be called a flaw. Maybe you wish it was a more climactic battle? I might agree with that, but for use as a tool to teach the plunging attack in a beginning area I don't think it's too bad.

I'm pretty confident that the number of enemies that require careful tactics far outweighs the ones that do, but I understand how it may take you out of the game by breaking your immersion (if that's what you're saying is the flaw, I may agree, but I would say it's relatively minor)

I can look past certain flaws. I don't need a game to be 100% perfect, and the vast majority of the time, it wouldn't be possible for a dev team to achieve that.

It isn't the only method however, as is the case with Yhorm you have the option to fight him normally. However unlike Yhorm his HP isn't immensely bloated, so it's even easier to deal with the prospect of not cheesing him.
