There are different animations based on strength, the speed also changes on the strength, and linkers hit up to three times based on strength
Do the combobreaker training mode, it helps
Light Attacks = Very fast
Medium Attacks = Even Paced
Heavy Attacks = Very Slow
And that's with normals. Specials:
Light specials = usually 1 hit
Medium = usually 2 hit
Heavy = usually 3 hit

However, you have to pass a test to play ranked, and you may or may not need to switch some settings to get there depending on how toastery yours is.
