I won a ps4 in a contest and don't care about either 4k or vr memes.

Same thing that happened to the music industry. Small businesses who used to care for quality who have now grown into into large corporations who only care for quantity with no other goal in mind than to turn a profit by marketing their game to a mainstream audience and designing games for the mainstream audience. This comes paired with a deadline devs have to meet which often has an impact on the quality of the game, causing it to be released unfinished. Why do you think games receive so many patches after release, both on console and on PC.

you are making a thread on false interpretations of what's happening. Sony is not making a PS4.5 (if they actually are) because the base system is weak (the ps3 would have needed such a bump even more since it was getting its ass kicked) but because it's technically possible. "weak" means jack shit when your product is selling well. by the time a possible ps4.5 is released (est Q1 2017) the base PS4 will have a street price of 250-299 and the PS4.5 will cost anywhere between 399-499.
personally I will probably get a base PS4 this summer for FFXV and P5 because it makes no sense to wait half a year or pay more for my secondary/supplementary gaming platform.
