Can't wait for my rift, who riftfag here?
>>
I'll give you a rift
*unzips dicks*
>>
Where are the videogames
>>
>getting a rift instead of a vive
>getting a VR device backed by facebook instead of the one backed by HTC and Valve
>getting a VR device incapable of room tracking
For what purpose?
>>
>no motion controls in the minus section
>>
>>332630062

motion controllers on a TV =/= motion controllers in VR
>>
>>332630289
it's still shit
>>
>>332629563
>no motion controls
>in the minus
wtf
>>
>>332630331
Have you used the Vive? Having something that represents your hands is great in VR.
>>
>>332629906
There are none.

That's why it's not worth buying at this point, unless you're into VR porn
>>
>>332630050
A million times this
>>
>>332629563
Haven't decided yet, and it'll probably be a long time until I can actually get my hands on VR.

Looks pretty roomy to me. I do wonder if they're going to do something like Chaperone, though. That seems important, but I don't think you can really do it if your base stations aren't fixed, and that doesn't seem to be their philosophy.
>>
I'm waiting on my tax return and for Nvidia to release top of the line pascal cards. That'll probably be in June.
>>
>>332629563

>inb4 they rate the Vive lower because it will be "hard to setup"
>>
>>332631062
They surely appreciated the Facebook money.
>>
>>332629563
Dodged a bullet, thank fuck I waited a bit, saved up some more, and ordered the Vive instead. I would've bought the rift in its current state at the time if it were around $400 as I was expecting.

But they are both competing at a very close if not the same price bracket taking into account motion controllers. The vive beats it technically by such a large margin it is not even funny.

Why limit myself to standing or seated games, when I can have a far better roomscale experience, front facing camera, and motion controllers sooner out of the box for the SAME PRICE.

The slightly lower FoV on rift doesn't bother me as much as the tradeoff is that it would look sharper, it is mostly their lack of emphasis on room scale for the same price. Why would I in the right mind pay the same amount of money for an inferior product.

I hope more competitors enter the fray, my next upgrade will be when 4k per eye HMDs with eye tracking and 3D grip haptics becomes a thing in a few years time. I predict 5 years to crack that nut if lucky, GPU is the biggest bottleneck to that happening.
>>
>>332629563
If you wanted to waste hundreds of dollars, you could've given them to me
>>
>>332630379
>porn
There's none, either. Also stop believing a helmet isthe same as star treck holodeck.
VR is horrible for porn
>>
>>332632179

Feels good to make the right choice. Seated VR games are a joke. YOU WILL want to stand up & move around to interact with the environment. HTC and Valve have done a phenomenal job in such a short time. They sucker punched Oculus with their hardware experience. Looking forward to my Vive in a couple of weeks (I'm in the 2nd wave).
>>
>>332630050
>VR
I have yet to see a device who actually provides this, Vive/Rift/PSVR is just a glorified screen with motion controls the only thing that came close to VR was Google glass and it bombed.
>>
>>332632730

>Comparing Google Glass to the Vive

It's okay to compared it to the Rift because they're in the same field (experience wise) but the Vive is on another level.

You should take the time read some buyer's remorse on r/Oculus.
Those tears really taste so good.
I read comments like "I am not interested In motion controllers" and "VR scale room is not my cup of tea". Pathetic faggots.
How the hell could someone want to play a VR game with a Fucking Xbox controller?! This is literally what asinine stupidity could be.

I don't think I can think of a reason to buy a Rift when the Vive exists.
>>
>>332633581
>What is DK1
>>
>>332633739
Only reasons I can think of are things that aren't even confirmed or just straight up bullshit. Like better tracking, or less screendoor, or less latency. Though the motion controller of the Rift do look better, with the gesture tracking thing, then again that's fucking late.
I'm curious to how the Vive will compare to the Rift, but I'm going to guess it will be better in almost all areas.
>>
>>332633854
We'll know how good it really is in about a week. A bunch of ausfags just got their shipping dates confirmed.
>>
>>332633989
Even then, I'm pretty sure a lot of reviewers will be able to get theirs on "release day". That will provide some information at least.
>>
>cost a fortune

90% of /v/ won't play this until 2020.

Google Glass wasn't even AR. It was a pair of glasses with a HUD.

Hey look, just as predicted
The fucks who got it for free think this is the second coming, while people who actually paid for it complain about motion sickness, nauseating FoV, lack of software, draconian first party app store that requires full name and phone to sign up to, etc.
Cucks
>>
>>332635209
>nauseating FoV
That doesn't even make sense.
>app store that requires full name and phone to sign up to
Haven't heard of something like that. Can you link me to a source?

Isn't your phone with a goohle cardboard and Trinus VR the same thing but way cheaper ?
>>
>>332635573
It probably is if you enjoy abysmal optics, ergonomics and latency. Oh, and no positional tracking.

>>
>>332635643
It use the phone gyro for tracking through
>>
>>332637038
That's exactly the problem. A phone isn't made for low latency head tracking. That's why the Gear VR has its own built-in IMU.
I think that might change in the future, though. If mobile VR ends up successful, maybe phone companies will start making phones optimized for it.

The fov reveal was hilarious. They've been deluding themselves into thinking that the rift had the better display for such a long time.

The company I work for got one yesterday. Haven't used it yet.

It feels bad because I legitmately don't care, but there are lots of guys on here who would be shitting their pants.

What does your company need it for?
