A good budget build will give you all of the positive aspects of a PC while not being absolutely ridiculous.
People love to act like this shit is the most tedious thing in the world and that you MUST dump over a grand upgrading every six months in order to play vidya, but I've had this little toaster for about five years that I wasted $600 for, and it still runs just about everything fine and on decent quality.

Considering some people run these processors at 90C while overclocking, I'd say it's still pretty darn good. Very nice case, by the way. I'm yet to try one of those.
REALLY needing to buy a new PC. At the moment using a notebook to play older games. It holds up pretty well though. Just waiting until things get more stable for me to buy something really good.

5 years ago I got i5 2500k, 570ti and 8gb of ddr2 ram.
Now I got 10 more gigs of ram, 970 and a cpu cooler and I'm fine for dev and play alike.

It's outdated, but still plenty powerful for the games I play.
I'm writing a ray tracer so a powerful skylake i7 would be nice (more IPC and AVX2), but is definitely not necessary.
I think I'll upgrade in a year maybe. Kinda waiting to see what new memory tech and GPU architectures will bring in the near future.
