It's bullshit. There have been several fairly large scale surveys (sample sizes ranging from a thousand to some 10k) that have shown that the female player base is about 10-15%. Also, I think that anyone who has played WoW can tell that the women don't make up 2/5 of the player base. 2 girls on average in an instance group? 10 girls on average in a 25 man raid? Yeah, no. I played on an RP server, which are supposed to have a higher proportion of women, but there weren't that many women even there.
I assume these ones are just badly sampled. There were big differences in the percentage of women depending on where the survey got posted (mmo champion giving a larger percentage of men, official wow forums giving a larger percentage of women, for example). So they used a place that was female dominated to advertise the survey and got that kind of result. It also happens to be behind a paywall so you can't even check the validity of the testing methodology. Most of the games on that picture come from the same source, so their trustworthiness is also questionable.

Therefore, where a guy will play a game and lose, he will want to improve so that he can win, where as a woman in the same situation would give up. This also explains why the games that women are the majority in, take no skill what so ever, and are very relaxed.
