I don't care about music so I won't comment on that but the video is pretty bad even for saying it's stylized.

>guy hooked up to some vr telling him to join some kind of drone/sheep thing
>purple and blue

Like come on... This is just my opinion but it just feels very generic.
>>
>>332598967
>feels very generic
Well, it does follow a genre you know.
>>
>>332598807
fuck you
>>
>>332599074
I don't know man. I don't think it can be used as an excuse since a lot of people can do a genre but add to it. I think this artist is just new or up and coming or something to explain what I saw.
>>
>>332599316
Hey buddy I think you got the wrong board.
>>
>>332598967
More generic than blue and orange?
>>
>>332596330
Artists like Pertubator and Kanvinsky while their music is produced well, their style fits better smaller indie games. For games like 2077 I think a better way is to go by hiring a more "traditional" composer to make a score for the game. Pertubator's sound is way too generic. It's like doing retro only for retro's sake while bringing nothing new to the table. Try out Satellite Reign. The music in that game is trying really hard to be cyberpunk, but ends up being really boring and not amping up the atmosphere like it should. Pertubator's songs could be used in something like in-game radio in 2077. A talented composer knows where the thin red line of musical cliché's go and how to overcome them.
>>
>>332602260
i wasn't talking about the music, although i do really enjoy it.
>>
is he wearing a motorcycle helmet?

if so youve caught my interest
>>
>>332602546
Well I thought referring to the music because of the OP's post was a music video. I like the song too, but would not use it in a score.
>>
>>332602260
While not a video game, I think Daft Punk's sort of synthesized 80's inspired style fit Tron Legacy pretty good. However, they've been doing music a lot longer than a lot of these neo-80s artists so they have some pretty good compositional skills.

But, Perturbator is still my favorite musician, generic sound or not.
>>
Style over substance: the microgenre
>>
>>332604324
I like the style

and it's certainly got that
>>
>>332603548
I like how they mimicked the visual aspect of the film in the music. They had a clear theme and did not try to over push it while being faithful to Daftpunk. If the score would have been any more complex it might have not worked so well on the screen. Yeah they have a long history in music I hope they pull up more scores in the future. I don't have any quarrel with Pertubator's music I only see it's purpose differentially.
>>
>>332594951
Reminds me of Gunship. They only have like three good songs, but those three are really fucking good.

What's up with electronic artists and their religious symbolism? Purterbator loves this kind of stuff and I couldn't tell you why.
>>
What cyberpunk games are on the horizon?

The ones I'm super excited for are Mankind Divided and 2077, but that's all to be expected from cyberpunk when it comes to AAA titles.

I'm not sure how I feel about Perturbator's new album. All the releases that have been shown so far are not so much synth-heavy as they are just DARK. Like something you'd expect from a publisher called "Bloood Music." I'm really hoping there are some more tracks with a lighter tone than what we've been shown so far.
>>
>>332602260
Your description of Perturbator's music actually makes it sound perfectly fitting for Cyberpunk 2077, which is nothing but clichés.
>>
>>332605620
i hope hegemon and maximum black are in those 3
>>
>>332606030
Perturbator is a metalhead before being a synthwave producer.
>>
imagine a game with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wy9r2qeouiQ as it's soundtrack
>>
so trying to clear up what happened in the music video, here's what I know for sure:

-motorcyclist had a picture of the girl in his wallet, meaning he probably had some sort of relationship with her

-when she was captured by the cult, they cut her skin and revealed that she was actually a robot

-she gets fucked both physically and mentally by the cult and gets indoctrinated/brainwashed/whatever

so did i miss anything here? the guy was in a relationship with a fucking robot and still got cucked somehow?
>>
>>332606640
yes; there's no real narrative going on as far as I can tell, it's just a juxtaposition of cyberpunk imagery and tropes.

I chatted a bit with Perturbator and he's actually watched very few cyberpunk anime, so I recced him some. Hope he gave them a watch.

To be honest that's what I'm afraid of. Since there are so few cyberpunk games around and absolutely nothing on the level what the 2077 supposed to be. The dev's are going to end up using all the cyberpunk memes at once making the game cringy as hell. After all they want the normie money too.

so far the two tracks I've heard off his last album haven't really hooked me. One of them sounds like a GosT pastiche and the other is this, and it's pretty bland.

I am the Night is still his greatest work, it feels more like a movie soundtrack than like a bunch of tracks.

>>
>>332602260
Yeah, full-on synthwave soundtrack for 2077 would be too cheesy and on-the-nose, I think. Should try for something more like Human Revolution, which did a good job of making the soundtrack sound future-y without going overboard or hamming it up.

Blood Dragon was 'cheesy.' I'd say Cyberpunk more trope-y and typical than outright cheesy.

Okay maybe it is a little cheesy, at least in retrospect. But getting full on 80's retrowave cheesy with it would push it almost towards self-parody.

I wonder how well Perturbator music would go with a game set in an Ancient Rome society based game. The genre's don't match up, but I think it would be interesting to see. Also I got bored one day and replaced some of the more boring songs from New Vegas with Perturbator's Dangerous Days. Shit was cash.

Sun Araw sort of did this.

However, even though he was part of the Hotline Miami soundtrack, the vast majority of his music is much more hazy and far less drenched in 80s nostalgia.

New Vegas is like 20 to 30% cyberpunk already so the fact it synced isn't surprising. The whole blend of aesthetics in NV make it fit a lot of different kinds of music.

I did a playthrough as a chem addicted killing machine who fought the Legion because they were totally bogus while listening to surf punk and it fit perfectly.

Why not go against the machine and take everyone down though? NCR is inept as hell, Legion are glorified barbarians, Fiends are coked up losers, Powder Gangers are literal criminals even if labeled from a corrupt group...pretty much every group has some sort of flaw or issue with bureaucracy that makes me sick of them.
