How good are you at fighting games
How do i check
I don't even bother with fighting games because it feels like an autistic quest into master the only couple of viable characters doing the same thing over and over again.
>>332555595
Alright when playing local. Fucking fall apart as soon as I play online
>>332556880
Does local mean local tournaments, or your local group of buddies who don't really play fighting games whatsoever
Absolute shit. I bought TvC, Blazblue and MvC3 and got nowhere with them. SFV is the first game I'm putting the work into.I'm ignoring Smash because I'm assuming you mean full-2D fighters
I'm good at arena fighters but garbage at 2d. I'm bad remembering combo inputs
>>332555595
i can do a couple reps of bulleta infinite
>>332555595
I haven't made top 32 at a major yet but I have hopes
>>332555595
So good I can't even do basic BnBs in Melty
>>332558705
What arena fighters?
>>332555595
Not very good but fuck if that wasn't my favorite stage
I find it curious how there's no western developed 3D fighter.
>>332560743
Mortal Kombat Deception, the best game in the series
I love them but I suck ass.
Feels great when you beat someone though.
Also can have cool moments like this one:
https://youtu.be/hG1rtJ2Sjog?t=14m (skip to 14:00)
>>332560823
Fuck, I completely forgot about those. Recently made, then.
>Got SFV as my first fighter because they pitched it as being "for people who feel like they can't play fighting games" and are pushing it as a good entry point to the genre
>game has literally zero tutorial content
>game has next to zero single player content, just tryhard online competitive shit which is the exact opposite of beginner accessibility
>game updates with tutorials and combo training
>tutorials are just videos you click through, no interactivity, same borderline useless shit I could already do on youtube
>combo strings just list move names on your screen, doesn't even show the fucking inputs or where cancels are
>no demonstration before you do it yourself, no explanation of how it strings together or where you would actually use the combo
Thanks capcom
>>332563501
You can set it to show the buttons.
Garbage because I only stick to characters I like visually no matter what tier they fall in.
Better than my irl friends, raped online.
>>332555595
Good enough to recognize scrubs, to know I'm pretty shit, and able to understand commentary during fighting game streams.
I can beat the hadoken spammer, but against someone that really knows their shit, I totally fall apart.
>>332560827
>Also can have cool moments like this one:
D'aww.
I did the same exact thing on SCIV way back. I even threw aside an 18 winning streak for 'em.
>>332563501
You should've tried almost anything else. SFV is garbage right now.
>>332555595
My greatest achievment is winning a Honda vs Honda mirror match in 4, against a guy who had like 10k points compared to my 1.5k
HONDA IN V WHEN
I would say I'm maybe 5/10.
I understand the game and flow of the fights.
I get spacing. I can reliably do special moves.
I can do semi-complex combos and links if I practice maybe 5 or 10 minutes.
I get frustrated easily.
Sometimes I choke on weirdly-timed inputs. MODOK's combo-style as a whole has made me way better at not fat-fingering my buttons.
I go based on perceived character coolness so I don't always play the top tier in games.
I can be predictable because I spend too much time in training mode on a dummy.
My favorite games are 3S, SFV (so far), and UMvC3. (I also like Jojo's ASB and Marvel Super Heroes Versus Street Fighter). I practice combos in all of these games semi-regularly.
>>332563501
Actually trials mode has a demonstration of each trial, and you can turn on button inputs and check the command list.
Fighting games in general are not easy to get into, and honestly if you aren't all about getting better (by getting demolished constantly) and competitive you probably won't find much enjoyment.
SF5 doesn't have much single player content but it at least has some stuff. Don't know why everyone was surprised, they said before launch that the main story mode and challenges wouldn't be in there when the game dropped.
I'd like to say I'm decent at them but only good enough to know what I'm doing wrong, which fucking sucks.
>>332555595
I'm ok overall. I can play anime games like uniel and dengeki. and take a couple games from people 3 times my points.
I've been hovering around super bronze-silver in sf5 though.
>>332555595
WRYYYYYYYYYYYYY/10.
>>332555595
I choke hard but I have no issues with losing
Also its fun getting smug assholes with hijinks
>guy beating me several times in sf4
>I know he's better
>he lets it get to his head
>note, I'm playing t.hawk
>he backdashes out of super
>he just walks in front of me to gloat or something, he could of easily just finished me
>use whiffed super to churn butter into ultra
>take a round
>he destroys me next round to win the match and leaves lobby
>receive a message afterwards
It was funny stuff.
>>332565215
>>332555595
Not good. I dont enjoy fighting games with stick rolling nonsense. Give me a UFC game or something with some real world techniques and skills.
>>332555595
the worst fighting gamer here.
been trying to get into MvC3 for awhile..
still can't do any combos
been trying street fighter as well..
still struggle with shroyukens
also tried mortal kombat..
can't even do more than a 3 hit combo
fighting games is my worse genre of video games..
>>332564702
Are you me, Anon? What team do you play in Marvel.
>>332555595
I play them in single player
>>332565561
So sports games?
>>332565525
It's even worse when you both do specials at the same time. Then it's just a gamble of if the knives connect or if jojo screams "SHIIIIIIIIIZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!".
>>332565737
I alternate between Dante/Chris/She-hulk, Dante/MODOK/Haggar, and Tron-Bonne/She-hulk/Rocket Raccoon. But I know play/ a lot of the lower tier/less-used characters.
pic related should have made the cut instead of vergil.
>>332555595
Still regularly play ultra sf4, p4a, and doa5 and I do great at those. Dogshit at other fighting games. Used to be good at mk and samsho when a kid but can't handle them now.
ill beat any of u nerds if u buy me sfv btw im a girl
>>332565595
Don't try for combos early on. Just focus on simple things. Know your normal attacks, and practice pulling off specials. Combo's are for later. Shit, I still take wins from people and I can't combo for shit, but I have other fundamentals I can rely on.
>>332566062
That would only happen if capcom acknowledged the earlier BoF games, which I doubt they ever will.
>>332555595
good enough to beat anyone on /v/.
>>332555595
Man, it's insane that you could pit Ryu vs. Captain America. Ryu's fought a lot of dudes; hasn't he?
marvel characters, other capcom characters, namco characters, nintendo characters/smash third parties, almost all of the SF cast itself, project x zone characters, and a little bit of tekken
>>332564702
I'm basically like this, except worse.
Despite this, I'm considered a semi pro by scrubs I usually play against, while I'm actually a scrub myself against any average player.
Doesn't matter how many times i try even against dummies, i can't pull off combos in any KOF game
>>332566406
If you can beat the occasional tourney players that post here, then I'll be surprised
>>332563501
>pick Ryu
>learn his special moves
>press M punch, H punch, H kick in that order, followed by fireball.
>crouch/Stand M kick for footsies
Watch your winrate skyrocket with just the basic fundamentals of the game. Don't even focus on combos or special moves, just learn to block and punish.
>>332556648
i dont like captains americas
>>332564191
He might remember that for his life man. I still remember beating older kids at an arcade (even if they let me win) and it felt unreal
>>332566523
Don't forget SNK and Tatsunoko characters, and against Asura too.
>>332566813
>>332566540
Didn't Viscant go to /v/ decently often?
Good enough to beat casuals but not good enough to beat any serious player.
>>332568001
i like the wolverine
I play Super Smash Bros.
I hate how Trials in SFV make you do impractical and unoptimized waste of meter bad scaling combos
I'd say a 7/10. I'm better than average, but would get my ass handed at tournament.
>>332564702
So you are saying that you know all this stuff and you gave yourself a 5/10? Based on what? tourney fags? You clearly are at least a 7/10
>>332555975
It's not about your actions it's about reading the other person.
Can beat people who don't have any idea about what they are doing, but anyone else will shit on me. I would say I'm pretty bad at fighting games, or video games in general, or in life.
>>332555595
well pretty sure i'm in failed aborted deformed baby tier.
>>332568585
yeah, I get that they're really reaching for the "hard" stuff, but in this case that means "not worth it by any estimation".
I main Nash, and the best damage, non-meter, you get from your jump-in is cr.HP, MP, H.genocide cutter. It's dead easy, but it's important to know. Yet that combo was nowhere in the trials.
>>332566062
Vergil should have been in the start, who fucking wanted Trish?
>>332568585
once again gg beats sf
xrd's trials had actual bnb combos as well as show off stuff
>>332569872
>>332569872
Word has it that Dante couldn't have been added without Trish.
>>332569783
And it sucks even more since Im drilling the lk mk cr lp link just for the sake of the Trial, when cr MP st MK is much more efficient
>>332560262
Those "fighting games"like NUNS 4 that a 3 year old could play competitively. Very shallow.
>>332555595
I can get to be above average, and the more so if it's a fighting game that appeals to me autistically, like samurai shodown 2.
I am like an artist with that vidya.
>>332555975
Ladies and gentlemen, mastering a game is autistic. If you don't finish it you're an uneducated ADHD westerner who isn't a gamer.
>>332560827
This is much better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RkapfBYIfc
>>332569208
I just don't do tournaments or online. I only play with friends/casual matches. I am clearly better than most of the people I play as, and I recognize where faults lie in my game when I occasionally play against people who are more skilled than me (like at a party or something).
I figured not doing tourneys alone would make it hard to argue I was at least 5/10
let's just say I have practiced relatively complex combos at like 2 or 3 obscure games no one plays, and I don't know more than bread and butter for the mainstream ones everyone plays
>>332555595
If 1 is middle aged mom playing farmville and 10 is obsessive fighting game pro, then I'm 5/10
But realistically speaking with 1/10 being a first-timer and 10/10 an obsessive pro then I'm 3/10 at best.
>>332569872
Me, she's a lot of fun to use.
>>332560827
Ah man that's sweet.
>there are people out there who prefer this over these big ass screenshots being posted in this thread
why
I'm bad at them, like really bad. I bet an easy AI can destroy me.
>>332555595
Haven't touched any of the current ones to be honest, but I've yet to be defeated in Bloody Roar.
>Bakuryu best character
Don't fuck with me in GG, my man. I won some locals back when I played in California.
I also went undefeated for about 3 weeks in P4A when it came out.
>>332572749
That's hilarious oh my god.
>>332572749
>Category: Education
That guy is genius.
>>332555595
I want to say I'm average or slightly above it. I can grasp them very easily I just have to dedicate some time to them to git gud. Haven't had a fighting game really peak my interest in a while tho not sure why.
What did the Tree on the far right mean by this
>>332576457
