There's something about the idea of being in a gigantic amount of land with little human establishment is an amazing stage for a story. It brings such a focus out on the main character as an individual and grants them the chance to change from there established views to something else (see Lawrence of Arabia).

I watched a movie that revolved around a group of romans fighting off vikings and that was band of brothers-esque but a game would be amazing. I would just like more historical games to do a better job at humanizing the characters and looking at their personal lives as well.
