So what was the general reaction towards Corrin both in the West as well as Nippon? What's the general opinion on him now?
It seemed to be mostly negative, especially compared to Bayonetta, but that might be a case of /v/ being a vocal minority.

Replace the counter with a quick dragon stomp with a splash effect. The splash can trip opponents but the stomp buries them. No knockback.

Because each Pokemon looks and plays in their own individual way. It's an annoying meme but every single FE rep is an anime swordsman with one being a literal clone of another.
That and Fire Emblem is frankly not that huge of a franchise and imo shouldn't have close to the amount of reps as Pokemon. It should have just been Marth, Ike, and Robin with Lucina and Roy alt costumes for Marth.

Not him but I'll admit Roy's new speed-but-close setup made him the most fun of the 3 to play (IMO), as opposed to Lucina just being a legit Marth clone but minus the tipper.
Corrin was... meh. Crazy range for better or worse, but otherwise would've been neater if the dragon form had a lasting transformation ability. And less hated had we not been overstocked on FE's or had more final reveals like Sakurai initially said.

Corrin getting in is like a bad joke. Everyone says things like "Ridley's too big!" "K. Rool isn't relevant!" "They need more room for FE swordsmen" when talking about Smash but you don't actually expect Sakurai to go on camera and say "Ridley is too big, so he's not in Smash".
