It's not like the proliferation of the PS4 happened for no reason. While I maintain that PC is still the gold standard and what those with the time and means to use should use, consoles fit certain lifestyles and price points.
Consoles have cultural significance to late-millenials still as something one plays with friends and from a parents' perspective you probably want computer time to be associated with homework so trying to relegate console time for gaming makes a lot of sense and you can still buy physical media which makes for a better wrapped gift in meatspace.

I remember that you could turn your robot into a hover tank to go faster and in multiplayer there was a grappling hook you could use to glitch into weird places.
