Hey /v/ - how're your video games_____ coming along this week?

Looking forward to anything? Tried anything fun?
>>
Playing Infamous Second Son and Transformers Devastation. Having a blast.

Want to buy Nights of Azure, but $60 is pretty steep for a game I know nothing about. Looking forward to DS3 and R&C.

>Infamous

I've had that game in my periphery but never really got sold on it. What's the appeal to you, anon?

>Want to buy Nights of Azure, but $60 is pretty steep for a game I know nothing about.

It'll be streamed soon enough, surely?
>>
Guys I was born in 93

I recently read through the entire wikipedia of Doom. Never really looked into it but was interested in the history of it. Glad I did it

Should I go back and play it? Or is it dated enough to warrant a glossover
>>
>>332498072
The platforming reminds me of Sly Cooper with super powers. I haven't played the PS3 versions, but it is pretty fun. It has a martial law theme going and Seattle is gorgeous.

I think some anon was streaming it earlier, but I missed it.
>>
>>332497439
I'm playing through Dark Souls II again (vanilla + DLC) and trying to beat all the bosses before III comes out, I just beat all of the bosses in the first one last week.

Also working on 100% completing every Zelda game before the new one comes out (every item, sidequest, heartpiece, etc). So far I've done OoT, MM, SS, MC, ALttP, OoS, and I'm going through OoA right now.

I'd also like to finally finish Dishonored and the two Xenoblade games soon.
>>
>>332498286
If you can get passed the graphics of the first one it is great. The other 2, while decent, do not compare but warrant a playthrough.
>>
>>332498286

Play them.

I'm gonna be playing them as well to psyche myself up for the new one.

Currently playing shovel Knight and loving it.
I don't know why I'm telling you this
I know you don't really care about me or the games I'm playing.
>>
>>332498390
I like dorf fortress, graphics aren't an issue
>>332498431
It's playable on pretty much a toaster/ATM machine innit? Probably can play it in my browser lol

I hear Brutal Doom, a mod for the original that was released a few years ago, is a pretty great expansion for the game - you might want to check that out if you want to try something new.

>>332498341

May have to add Infamous to my backlog then. Don't think I've ever played a game set in Seattle.

>>332498351

Good luck with Dark Souls, still stuck trying to get through the first one without wiki guidance on my end.
>>
>>332498493
OP of the thread seems to care about your games anon.
>>
>>332498516

Yeah, there is a version of doom for damn near anything nowadays.
I actually have the IOS version on my phone right now. It's pretty good.

Worth the price? Have been contemplating dropping a bit of next month's paycheck for it.

>I know you don't really care about me

You're right in the sense that I don't know you and caring about you is somewhat difficult at that point, but I'm glad to know you're having a good time with a game regardless.
>>
>>332498547
Good luck on Dark Souls to you too. What part are you at?
>>
>>332498749
Shovel Knight is most definitely worth the price. They've already added a second, completely different playable character as a free update, and 2 more are in the works.

Just past the big rat boss last I played. Not really sure where to go from there, I'll take a few hours to backtrack and figure out where to go later.
>>
>>332498896

A'ight. Thanks for the recommendation, anon.
>>
>>332498979
The big rat boss? There isn't a rat boss in the first game (at least, no misty door/boss health bar). Are you talking about the giant rat in the Depths?
>>
>>332499296

Yeah, that's the one.
>>
Have been playing CS:GO, DMing in community servers. My aim and movement is so fucking awful. I get instantly 1-tapped by most players but I struggle to aim for the head. I almost always end up negative and I don't feel like I'm making progress.

Also been PvPing in Dark Souls. DaS3 might be a game I've looked forward to the most of all time.
>>
>>332498286
If you want to feel smug and smart with yourself over something absolutely irrelevant to anything in life, then go back and play Doom.

But if you have a healthy self esteem, try playing a modern game.
>>
>>332499456
I'm enjoying CSGO right now but I kind of want to prepare myself for Doom 4 in case it's any fun. Plus fuck it I can play it in my browser so why not

Tried lowering your mouse sensitivity? I used to be absolutely awful until someone suggested I drop my sensitivity to 20% of my usual speed. Helps aiming a lot.
>>
>>332499351
Really minor hint, I know you didn't want wiki help so I spoilered it just in case:
You don't need to backtrack, the Depths have a real boss a little further past the big rat
>>
I played mark of the ninja and I'm so happy after beating a mission without killing any guards. I thought I would be forever shit at stealth games. Now I just need to get good at Thief 2
>>
>>332499603
400 DPI @ 2.5 in-game.

My aim is better than most players but it's not a guarantee that I'll kill someone first when I see them, and that's how I want it to be. As close to as possible anyway.
>>
>>332497439
>fun
I don't think you're allowed to use that word here.
>>
>>332499621

Fuck it, you made me look.

After realising the game has you looping around to the same area every now and then, I imagine I'll be bactracking anyway eventually.
>>
What are some games I can play that are interesting to just walk around and explore in, and don't require much thinking to progress?
>>
>>332499456
Are you implying people play Doom and the like for anything other than fun?
>>
I'm stuck in a cycle of playing old games I used to love while I wait for something new to catch my eye.
I might end up finally buying a 3DS this next week.
>>
Going through Rabi Ribi and getting my ass kicked.

Looking forward to DaS3.
>>
>>332499790
Oh you will later, I just meant from where you were right now.
>>
>>332499397
Pick an SMG and get really good with it. I bought a Bizon and put about 1200 kills on it and I started to get super reliable with it - in my league of silver master I can outrange M4s fairly often. Just play deathmatch and casual a ton and you'll start to pick up on a spray pattern and have a go-to gun that you can eco on any time.

Ah, fair enough. Sounds like a case of needing more practice - grabbing a weapon to specifically train yourself with for a good while might be great for helping you with spray patterns.

>>332499757

Too late!

>>332499970

Fair enough, thanks for the heads up.
>>
>>332498547
Can confirm Brutal Doom is fun. The extra gore, animations, and gun tweaks make the game even more satisfying to play.

Finished mass effect was not as good as I was expecting, mass effect 2 next. Also playing devil survivor 2: overclocked which is good, I'm on the 4th day everything's becoming a bit of a cakewalk though. I might play some persona 4 arena later tonight.
>>
Finally playing SMT4 for the first time even though I've owned it since the day it came out. Pretty easy so far, a bit disappointing in that regard. Enjoying it all the same.

Mass Effect 2's definitely a fair bit better mechanically and performance wise.

Just don't go into 3 with high expectations.
>>
I'm going to replay San Andreas. I'm off college for 19 days so I reckon I can finally complete it with no cheats in that time frame.
>>
>>332503998
>no cheats
Why
>>
>>332503860

Your post reminds me that I still haven't even touched my copy of Etrian Odyssey Untold that I fucking pre-ordered nearly 3 fucking years ago. I think I've played more of my pirated copy of EOU2 then it. Fuck.

Me neither.
As well as EO4 and Soul Hackers...
>>
>>332504124

I'm in the 3rd Stratum in EOIV, but I haven't touched Persona Q and I have the fucking LE of that one.

I probably shouldn't import EOV even though I've been thinking about it...

Don't play Brutal first, it's good, but not a replacement for vanilla.

Use the GZdoom engine and official IWADS, plus a minor graphical update called Smoothdoom. Vanilla gameplay IS DOOM, and it's gameplay has zero fat.

It isn't BrutalDoom that gets fans in a tizzy, it's people treating it like a patch and getting mad when custom levels aren't balanced for it.

>inb4 someone misquotes Romero again
>>
>>332504018
When I was younger, I always fucked with the cheats. Although, if I'm wanting 100% completion I've just remembered the driving school.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>
>>332497439
looking forward to hyper light drifter, and getting hype for the CS:GO tourney this week
>>
Not too bad.
I finished Fallout 4, which was disappointing and I finished Diablo 3 and RoS, which was pretty fun.

I'm currently playing through Arcanum and Vampire Bloodlines.

Fun times.
>>
>>332504739

>tourney this week

Playing or watching?

>>332504814

How're you liking Vampire Bloodlines? I got into it sometime last year, it's aged surprisingly well.
>>
Tried playing Doom 64 EX but game crashes whenever I try to save, sucks and apparently the dev has had the issue before and has to fix the error. Aside from that working on Xenoblade Chronicles X, Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, Metroid Prime Hunters and might startBlood and Return to Castle Wolfenstien later today.
>>
I've been playing on the Nostalrius WoW private server, slowly working on getting my Mage preraid BiS gear.

I've played a tiny bit of Grim Dawn over the last month or two but not a whole lot. Kind of want to build a new character but don't know what.
>>
>>332504943
watching, grand prize is a million bucks and seeing the pros play is a good way to learn some new tricks
>>
>>332504943
I'm enjoying it.
I love the atmosphere and the lore of the game seems really interesting as well. I only just started it though so I'm not too far into it.

Neat - are the new maps in the pool? Haven't seen too much pro play on those yet.

>>332505185

>>
>>332505293
unfortunately no, but maybe the new nuke will get in after the operation's done
>>
Currently playing Dark Souls, FarCry Primal and Wind Waker HD
Haven't got any games ordered I'm looking forward too, my shelves are full of shit I need to get round to playing
>>
>>332505546

Fair enough, think I'll be playing instead, then.

>>332505657

How's Primal?
>>
>>332507012
Better than I expected, actually.
The map is pretty immersive and hunting shit with spears is satisfying.
It's annoying as fuck that everyone's talking in gibberish though but I supose it makes sense
>>
>>332507519

Huh, neat. I hear they added some kind of settlement-building mechanic this time around, how'd it work out?
>>
>>332508152
I'm not too far in but so far you just find some resources to upgrade some NPC's huts and it gives you new skills and bonuses. Kinda cool to see your little cave expanding to a settlement though
