I'd recommend playing on hard mode. The game may seem challenging at first but once you understand how it works it becomes a complete cakewalk on normal.

Lots of people are fucking stupid and don't know about the vital game mechanics that the game never fucking teaches you.
It took me like half the game to realise that you could press select and upgrade yourself and weapons.
Doing the in game tutorial isn't enough.
The game never explained that when the screen flashes blue, you are supposed to go into blade mode. It explained itself VERY poorly.
That video helps.
