Am I going to regret this? Should I even continue...the total is already over $1400 and I haven't started into monitors yet

I wanted to upgrade for the new virtual reality age but I don't think I'm rich enough to join
>>
pls help
>>
>>332458678
It's not usually a good idea to be an early adopter. If you have never used VR before, try to demo it beforehand.

By the time more refined headsets come out, and more games for them, there will be better graphics cards. Why do you need VR now?
>>
If you're doing gaming, you can downgrade your gpu and cpu. An i5 is fine and a 970 or 980 is good for nvidia, or a 290x/390x if you're into amd gpu. Stay far away from amd cpus though
>>
>>332458864
if you're going to be spending big monies wait for the next gen of graphics cards. They will be more future proof because of massive shift of technology currently happening.
>>
>>332458678
Why would you worry about the monitor if you want to get into VR? Just get an average one.
>>
>>332458678
If you wanna do VR then go for an i5 and either Nvidia 970 or AMD R9 390. Will save you some money and still give you really good performance for gaming.
>>
dont go for virtual reality, go for the actual pc mustard race

but yeah the deal is pretty good with that motherboard+cpu+8 gb ram combo

Why don't you first see if you need an entire new PC yet? When I started PC gaming in 2011 I just bought a graphics card for the prebuilt I had and it's done me good; I've upgraded it other times but the total amount I spent on it is less than I would have spent building a PC.

if you're going for VR i highly recommend you wait for the new GPUs to drop in a few months, your 980ti might be worth half the price right after you buy it
>>
>>332462273
You should figure out everything before you pick your PSU though, otherwise how do you calculate how much wattage you're going to need?

Why would picking out a mouse and keyboard before a PSU even matter at all? Are you literally autistic.
>>
>>332462117
His shit isn't unnecessarily expensive. They're all pretty high end. If he threw two titans in there and a 10,000 $ monitor then you can bitch.
>>
>>332462410
How much wattage you need? He already has all the parts to determine that. Are you under the impression the monitor gets power from the PSU?

>Why would picking out a mouse and keyboard before a PSU even matter at all?
It wouldn't it's something that would come after your build; which is why it's obvious the PSU is something he forgot.
>>

Sorry but PC hardware is slowing down, it won't be accelerating like it did in the past anymore. All new "upgrades" pretty much purely based on power efficiency.

If one component changes and takes more power he's going to have to completely change the brand, the class, the efficiency rating, whether or not to get a modular one? Maybe since he's already getting bundles, he can roll the PSU into one with a different heatsink?

No, better not think about any of that. Acting like a jerkoff is clearly better.

That match what criteria? No one's recommended any criteria. You can get an overly expensive 400w PSU that costs more than a cheap Chinese 1200w one. You'd rather argue over arbitrary shit when there's more to consider.

Fuck's sake it feels like I'm taking crazy pills

Here, OP. This is a good brand and they're very reliable. I recommend the modular one because they're more convenient than you'd think at first. Gold certified is all you really need, anything above isn't worth the money at all. CX is a good class even if it is one of their cheapest. If you feel like buying a better one stick with AX, RM is just a complete ripoff.

Once you decide the wattage you need, press the button accordingly; but don't tell anyone else of /v/ it's that simply to change wattage and that infact: wattage is the last thing you need to decide when you get a PSU. Something tells me they can't quite grasp that idea.

ASRock is a budget motherboard manufacturer and one rule to live by when building PCs is to never cut corners on things that are connected to everything else.

why would you even buy windows? either get windows 10 free or just pirate other windows

For the brahs that helped me in the last thread, I think I might have to go with the 970, while the Tri Sapphire 390 is superior, upgrading to a new PSU is going to cost too much. Fucking Antec and their 1 x 6 pin x 1 x 6 + 2 pin.

What's the best 970? MSI or EVGA?

AMD FX 9590 I think so m8

Don't need liquid cooling for single gpu cpu setup, unless you're overclocking like mad

it's for his CPU

with a CPU like that he'd need a high end heatsink or liquid cooling

Not really. Only 88W TDP. Compared to 220W for an FX-9590.

The CX series is crap. Absolutely not sufficient for a gaming rig.

Intel has no competition in performance, they might as well focus on efficiency so they can get the same performance while generating no heat or wastage.

PC gaming is... nice? I'm a consoke fag and own a gaming PC but I guess your fine since its now getting xbox exclusives i'll be waiting for Halo before I even get hyped though.

Is there a way to stream your PC to your TV yet? I hate sitting at a desk.

Just bought a 1000W RMi for $110. HX is the ripoff. The RM does better than it in some tests despite only being gold.

PC gaming isn't worth the hassle. Until console users die off you'll never be able to fully enjoyable.

So basically never.

CX is p. bad. Pay a little bit more and get a better fan that won't crap out or start making noise, better capacitors, and stuff like turning off the fan at idle. There's a reason why they only have 3 year warranties and all of the better models are 7 year.

This isn't any new hardware. This is the first gpu node shrink in ages. You'll most likely be able to buy a pascal midrange card with the same performance as a 980 ti for $150 cheaper.
