What was the point of your post?
>>332450231
I was symbolic of the demise of the Old West. People like John were a relic of a bygone era.

This. Which makes me wonder if 2 will take place in the past, seeing how the first game signaled the end of an era.

>series is called Red Dead
>game is called Redempion
he gets his redemption at the end of the game

Red Dead Redemption was the second game in the series.
redemption I guess, too bad it doesn't mean much when his wife dies not too long after and his son follows in his footsteps, making your efforts amount to jack shit
>>332452182
>russian civil war red dead
>>332453492
That would basically be the perfect setting. Better not make me team up with the godless reds tho
what the fuck man spoilers

>>332454806
God.
>>332456620
Only if you get the bad ending
>>332456983
Oh boy
It's the same as the reason most revisionist-western films end that way, stories don't always end with the hero getting away and saving the day. It's like in The Wild Bunch, they know full well they're going to die if they go back and try to save Angel but they do it anyway. It's basically deconstructing that classic heroic western deed (John trying to save his family) and having it blow up in the protagonist's face where in say, a John Ford western, the hero would come out alive.
>>332452764
Dark Souls was the second game in the series but they still made a Dark Souls 2.
>>332450231
>have killed far more people ingame than that squad of troops
>could have easily dealt with it if I could've gone around the back of the barn and used cover and stuff like every other fight in the game
>NOPE GOTTA WALK STRAIGHT OUT INTO THE OPEN
Yeah no worries John just let yourself die it's not like you have a wife and son to take care of or anything
I thought it was a good ending though. It was bitter but really fitting.
>>332457652
He wanted to die so the feds would leave his family alone. They would have kept coming after them otherwise.
>>332454806
Death.
>>332457797
The only fed who gave a fuck was there at the barn
>>332457652
He could take them and knew it, the point was that if he did so he and his family would have been hounded by the rapidly expanding US goverment. He sacrificed himself to give his wife and his son the chance of a peaceful life he never got
He was petting on the low
>>332450231
felt like ripping off Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid i guess
>>332458109
Do you think they'd let him get away after he killed all those U.S. Troops and Marshals?
>>332458342
They'd probably write them off as a "rogue unit" and let it lie
They have bigger issues to care about than some guy who just wants to be left alone
>>332457849
I'm thinking it was Satan.
Doesn't he send you on quests where you tempt other people to sin?
>>332458473
John killed 20+ guys during that mission. Most were just soldiers following orders. What are they going to tell their families?
