No Mario Maker thread?
well here is one. Time for levels, that you feel cringe about because you think your level sucks.

Can anyone try this level and give feedback?

Im going to upload a level called "every dumb jp expert level". It kills you right away, has kaizo blocks, pits you cant get out of and doors that lead to death
>>332451307
don't do it. An ocean of shitty levels that do this unironically will not help with a few ironic ones. just make good levels
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/C825-0000-020E-2954
Just uploaded this one, fresh from the presses
>Footrace with the koopa, quick!
Also please give some of my other stuff a try.

>Flight of the Buzzy Beetles

Level in which the Mushroom kingdom is destroyed:
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/F07A-0000-020B-05DD
Most levels I make are Expert, but I don't think they're too unfair.

The bowser at the end kills that bowser autoscroller. half the time you make it there with small mario and end up having to repeat half of the longest and slowest autoscroller ever

any opinions on this?
>>332451624
Interesting concept. I had a bit of trouble with the third section, but overall a unique level. I starred it.
>>332454729
What specifically did you have trouble with in the third section? Landing on the goombas properly? Please elaborate, and thank you very much for playing/starring.
WHERE IS MY FRIEND NINTENDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo
>>332455231
No worries, I just kept accidentally smashing my shell against a goomba, so I had to do go back a few times to get it right. There's a trick to it though, so I've been cleaning my time up on it, I just didn't realize it from the get go.
>>332455493
I see. Thanks again, friend. I bookmarked one of your courses to get to the rest of yours for later
>>332455762
My courses are garbage, but I appreciate it nonetheless haha. There's a reason why I never shill them here.
>>332455387
Already in, both visually and mechanically.
Here's mine it's a super long puzzle level

WAIT I GOT IT, LET'S MAKE A MARIO GAME HALF FINISHED WERE THE PLAYER DOES ALL THE FUCKIN STAGES, YES, JUST FOR THE LULZ
>>332456795
AND LETS INCLUDE LESS THAN A TENTH OF THE CONTENT YOU CAN FIND IN THE MAIN GAMES
>>332456795
It's the MS Paint of Mario level editors
Not that that's a bad thing
Just earned my second coin boys
>>332449684
Played your level OP. Fun stuff. I feel like the brick busting was inspired from SMB3. I starred it.
>>332452528
To Slowly Go Insane was too spooky. Creative level, I starred it. I'll play the others after I take care of some stuff.
>>332457685
Congrats anon. We in it.
post more auto levels pls my wife's autistic daughter loves them
>find a well designed level in expert
>level looks nice with some secrets and good use of aesthetics
>only issue is enemies starting right next to a checkpoint giving you a second to react
>tell level creator in comments
>"It's part of the challenge, get good"
So close to finding a reasonable Expert mode creator and level combination;_;
>>332449684

I liked the verticality, but the middle part with the stars felt kinda like pointless filler. Overall fun level though.
>>332455975
I'm sure they aren't as bad as you let on, I always end up thinking that mine turn out shit, but it's usually okay

A couple of levels I made. Looking for any criticism or positive comments. Also if you can tell what the narrative of each is, even if it is pretty secondary.
pls give level ideas i have creators block after like 30 levels
>>332466960
Play other people's levels, you can get inspiration from others. Or just mimic a concept, but whatever.
Hey guys I'm having trouble with a level I created a while back. Its a puzzle/ghost house and it has very few hazards, but my completion rate is very low. How do I make puzzle levels that people actually complete?
>>332467971
Don't make puzzle levels.
Nobody plays a Mario Game for the ghost houses or puzzle levels.
Be fucking creative.
>>332467971
You gotta remember that the grand majority of Mario Maker have a hard enough time jumping over an enemy. Let it sink into Expert/Super Expert and you'll start getting clears. Or shill it here and on reddit and more competent people will play it.
MOTHERFUCKING STARFY IS COMING

I guess this is close enough.
>>332469135
Never played the games, but that victory jingle was cute. Reminds me of the synths on the Genesis/Megadrive.

My two most recent courses! Please let me know what you think.
>>332467971
>How do I make puzzle levels that people actually complete?
Make single screens like Sam's puzzles or huge metrovanias like Keyrock's puzzles.
If you're holding an empty Buzzy or Spiny shell and you try to go down a pipe, which takes precedent, putting the shell on your head or going down the pipe?
>>332470926
Hop in the editor and test it.
>>332470926
I'm not home
>>332470926
I think the helmet goes on first?
>>332471275
Neither am I. Somebody test it.
>>332470926
You put the shell on then immediately go down the pipe. You can't go down while holding it, at least from my testing.
>>332472748
Scratch that, I managed to go down the pipe without putting it on twice, but it's difficult to do. I kind of rolled the D-pad in a quarter circle motion from right to down when I succeeded. Looks like I learned something new for speedrunning.
>>332466702
I like them, maybe one more mushroom in the first level. The second one is pretty good.
I just star'd both of them.
Try mine: >>332465176
>>332469135
aww yeah!
>>332473094
>>332472748
>>332470926
It's possible to go down a pipe without putting on the shell so long as mario is in his motion state, as in he still has momentum when you input to go into the pipe.

Played the top one, starred it. I like the use of the big koopa.
>it's an autoscroll level
>a slow autoscroll level
