And that will never happen.
>>
>>332445019
Even if that is the case, there are naturally dangerous/outright evil things in Azeroth that are not really suitable for kids' stories.

Think of something like the Hakkari, for example. How exactly would you introduce something like them in a children's story?
>>
>>332445307
Kids stories have been about horrific tihngs all the time, it's just about how you frame it.
>>

Yes pandas suck ass but people who claim all expansions after wotlk are trash, can't list why at all.
>>
>>332445978
The thing is that 90% of Azeroth has factions like the Hakkari causing some sort of havoc.

Is it really a proper portrayal of the world if this kid just waltzes through it and miraculously manages to meet only nice murlocs and teenage night elves?
>>

The WoW books were always pretty cool, might give these a look
>>
>>332446392
Harry Potter has the excuse of being a children's story to begin with.

Warcraft has a long and bloody history behind it, which kind of makes it less suitable for kids' stories.
>>
>>332446248
Actually the representation in WoW is probably a lot more off than the book would be of a normal situation in Azeroth.
I mean your character comes in during a time of war. There are a lot of peaceful races, who lived in relative peace for quite a while before Lich King/Deathwing/Garrosh or Garrosh again come to stir up trouble.
Taunka, Ho-zen or the jinyu all lived pretty chill lives during the times we weren't around.
>>

The Hobbit is a kids story too though.
>>

Of course Warcraft is built on a dark premise but it's always had even more lighthearted moments.

The blog post on battle.net says 8-12. Greg Weisman is the author though, and while he makes "young adult" stuff in name it's stuff that tons of adults enjoy like Gargoyles.

>It's been years since twelve-year-old Aramar Thorne, a clever boy who is never without his precious sketch book, has seen his father. So when Captain Greydon Thorne comes ashore and asks his son to join him at sea, it feels as if someone has redrawn Aram's entire world. Before he knows it, Aram is aboard the Wavestrider with Lakeshire fading to a distant dot on the horizon. But the thrill of adventure quickly fades, as Greydon relentlessly schools Aram on how to handle his cutlass and how to relate with the strange and diverse creatures of Azeroth. In addition, Aram struggles to get along with the Wavestrider's crew?especially second mate Makasa, a tough teenaged girl who has been reluctantly placed in charge of him. Just as Aram starts to get his head above water, a band of vicious pirates attack the Wavestrider, turning his world upside down once again. As Aram tries to find his way home with his father's compass in hand, he'll travel across Azeroth's beautiful and hostile terrain, encountering creatures both terrible and wondrous. He'll seek to understand Azeroth's denizens as he draws them in his sketchbook, forming unlikely friendships along the way. But the journey is hindered by Greydon's compass, which never points north. If the compass isn't leading Aram and Makasa home--to safety--to what destiny is it leading them?

I dunno, it sounds fine to me.

m8 have you ever read any of the classic fairytales by brothers grimm?
they're all full of brutal violence and cruelty that would get a movie rated 18+ today.

>spiteful queen tries to murder her stepdaughter by poisoning her, simply for being too beautiful

And we can't nerf WoW lore enough to be suitable for 12 year olds. The same age group where girls start trying out handies in the back of the school bus. Nope. That would prove far too difficult for any modern hand to attempt.
>>
>>332457175
There's the river in the southwest that goes past Westfall, into Stranglethorn, and then to the ocean. It never says his dad docked at the lake :^)
>>
>>332457269
>out to sea
thats a fucking shallow river that crosses through duskwood and reaches the sea after passing through stranglethorn vale and over a waterfall next to a horde base

so assuming a sizable ship does in fact dock on a riverbank, it now has to make its way all the way down a river and over a waterfall to sea

except the wording implies he sets sail from lakeshire. which from that river is not visable

maybe you should try 'see'ing the whole picture blizzdrone
>>
>>332457269
There's also a bridge leading to Duskwood that is way too small to allow a boat bigger than a row boat to sail past.
There's also a hill that completely blocks the view from the river to Lakeshire.

Compare the geographies of the earlier games to WoW. They're really, staggeringly different.
>>
>>332457569
WoW is a dollhouse, friend. Blizzard can and will always tweak their maps and stories to suit the current narrative. Lakeshire is now a huge ass lake with at least one river flowing out of it to the ocean large enough to ferry ships for its entire length. Not unlike the Columbia River in Oregon. Get used to it.
>>
>>332457648
>the "bandits" are just dindus from Stonewatch throwing rocks at the ship that causes it to shipwreck

And WoW is the current model for the Warcraft universe Azeroth, the earlier games' geography literally mean dick.
