Best Battlefield imo.

Haven't played BC2 in probably 5 years though. Vietnam DLC was the shit.

Tanks and choppers everywhere. Infantry is useless against them both.
It's like some fucked up version of rock, paper, scissors.
If everyone is of equal skill, infantry loses to everything, tanks lose to choppers and jets, choppers lose to jets, jets lose only to other jets, which makes jets completely pointless as everyone will always fly jets and you need to waste players to fly your jets to counter their jets.
Even if your full squad was engineers, you'd all still lose to a decent tank player.

There are no AA guns to take down choppers and jets except a silly little AA-vehicle which doesn't hold up at all.
In infantry maps too many different weapons and gadgets causing cheap kills.
Recon doesn't have artillery anymore, so now they're same with jets. Snipers only exist to counter other snipers.

Everyone will only play engineers in open vehicle maps and everyone will mostly play assault in infantry-only maps. Except for sniper shitters.

Also, Rush is more fun than Conquest because I like some consistency in where people spawn. Conquest makes them spawn all around you. And with that in mind, BF3 Rush maps clearly weren't designed with Rush in mind.

I prefer BFBC2 from the "newer" Battlefields.

I dunno, maybe it is just nostalgia but bc2 feels so much less linear and a shit load more fun.

I have a love/hate relationship with this game

the Cortex/Nina levels aren't much fun, boring/frustrating boss fights, and its too short, but the Crash levels are (usually) solid and it has one of the best soundtracks in the series, and the open world feel is pretty cool for a Crash game (even though it feels pretty limited for the most part)

I actually prefer the linear map designs because it makes the match so much less random and infuriating than big open areas with a million entry points for accidentally flanking enemies.

It shouldn't be so surprising that Omaha Beach was my favorite map in 1942.

While I think most of BF4's map are horribly designed, the randomness isn't due to the openness. It's being able to spawn on 4 other squad mates, parachute in from spawn beacons that can be hidden anywhere, and helicopters flying all over the place with people dropping out contently that ruins any sort of map progression or having an actual fighting front. Constant un-stoppable back-caps are not fun to fight against. DICE needs to overhaul their spawn system and really restrict where and when you can spawn.

I think they were trying to rectify the Base to MCOM/Cap distances where most of the time if your squad leader was dead you'd just be running over 200 M to the fight. Now the Battlefield 4 Rush battles are insane clusterfucks.

They honestly could have fixed it by having more of the small transport vehicles at base. Sure people could use the vehicles to flank, but if they fixed the spawning then you wouldn't end up in the moronic state most BF4 maps end up in where you're unable to clear enemies off of points.

Base to cap distances wouldn't be as big of an issue if DICE would quit putting those stupid fucking open fields inbetween spawn and the cap points.

And I do get why you would like linear more focused maps. But with DICE's inability to make unsymmetrical maps that are balanced I think making maps more linear would just make matters worse.

It can be fun, but it can also be a horrible infuriating experience. If you get it, get it real cheap. Expect a lot of one-sided stomps, all team scramblers are server plug-ins and none of them work worth shit.

Honestly it's alright, but lately I've been having a lot more fun with Hardline.

Rush is the only decent game mode and it's still not as good as BF3 or BC2 Rush.

Appreciate it, I'll see if I can find a sale for it. 49.99 from origin for the full pack with DLC seems too steep for me when I am not sure if I'll dig it. I did like BF3 aside of some connection issues but I remember solving those.

They're just as useful when your a defender. Smoke an armed mcom, long flank, shoot the dumbasses not covering their rears, and go for defuse.
