Original or Human Revolution?

Also, expectations from Mankind Divided.
>>
>>332442023
I just finished HR for the first time, it was also my first deus ex game, should I play the original ?
>>
>>332442501
Sure.
>>
>>332442501
It aged poorly, keep that in mind
>>
>>332442023
Why not both?
And I'm sort of excited for HR, but don't have a machine to run it.
>>
>>332442697
You're a fucking faggot if you think it aged poorly. Played for the first time in 2010 and it was fucking awesone.
>>
>>332442697
>>
>>332442501
You fucked up
>>
>>332442023
Original and it's not even close. Played the original after HR.

I do have expectations from MD, especially since I hope they will take the criticism from the first game into account.
>>
>>332442697
>It aged poorly

Daily reminder that it was bad for 2000. Metal Gear Solid (1) came out in 98, and MGS2 came out 6 months after Deus Ex.

Deus Ex was a bad game. PC was desperate at the time for anything other than point/click, and somehow that evolved into some delusional love of a shitty game made by a guy some might call a one-hit wonder, even though his one hit was god awful.

Human Revolution was pretty gud, although I'm not a fan of the direction Mankind Divided is headed.

The original can be a little hard to like initially because of aged mechanics that feel clunky at first, but it is by far the superior game once you get into it.

>>332443007
This nigga lying. If you played HR first, the bar is already set high, but it's gonna be blown into space by DX1.
>>
>>332443308
Dude, no, im the guy who said it aged poorly, and i think the game was pretty good for its time.

Its not the stealth mechanics but the freedom of gameplay choices it allows

HR was my first Deus Ex game too.
You absolutely should play the original, just clench your butthole for the first 2-3 hours, it will be a lot more enjoyable after that, the game didn't age well.
>>
Mankind Divided is going to be much more TPS than we wanted. They're going to ignore the stealth, mark my words.
>>
Original is the better game because you could never do something like this in HR
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dT7sjoH8Sqc
>>
>>332442697
You aged poorly.
>>
>>332442023
HR was a good game and all, had really good level design and OST, but the cover system made the stealth too easy, i just ghosted trough the entire game effortlessly, they need to make it harder.

> Mankind divided expectations

Fuckface Megan and beat her to Death
>>
>>332442501
Yes, I did the same thing. Original Deus Ex isn't nearly as aged as people say, I fucking loved it not as much as HR though
>>
>>332444021
It will be more TPS, but you are still free to use stealth, it doesn't go anywhere. And as was shown in the e3 demo, at least on that level it was more beneficial to be sneaky.
>>
>>332444021
I'm gonna be honest, I say write the story, then build the game around it.

If the Jensen arc takes us to where he goes nuclear, then make an action game, I don't give a shit. Well, I guess I do to some degree. I mean I'd rather not play a mainline Deus Ex card game. I'm much more attracted to the style of games, rather than the genre/gameplay.

Personally, I played Human Revolution contextually, I.E. I killed people I thought deserved to die through whatever vague, ambiguous sense of morality I may or may not hold, and utilized stealth in the areas with factions and people I'd rather not kill. In retrospect, I regret killing the guards at Tai Yong Medical.
>>
>>332443308
If you're being serious this, statement:

>PC was desperate at the time for anything other than point/click

Invalidates everything you've said just by how wrong and uninformed it is. Although, I don't think you're being serious, since you're implying Warren Spector and the rest of the team never made anything before.
>>
>>332444695
>Personally, I played Human Revolution contextually, I.E. Are you me?

Also, Mankind Divided better have a "Did you save Malik" tier Are-You-A-Faggot Test.
>>
>>332444021
They already stated you can finish it without killing anyone (even bosses).
>>
>>332445462
Don't you mean a better one? Because that one was kind of obvious. Most people probably don't even know about the cutscene where she gets shot in the head.

I'd be fine with Malik's death if it had a better payoff, and if HR had more character depth.

Finding Malik's body at the Harvester's was neat, when it probably should've been gut wrenching.

I don't imagine MkD will be any different though, seeing as it's almost an entirely new cast. I'm almost not looking forward to it, it just looks like Human Revolution 1.5: Blue Filter Edition instead of a proper sequel.

>tfw it pulls an MGS2 and you don't play as Jensen

I'd be okay with it.
>>
>>332445770
I mean in terms of if you didn't do it, you get feathered and tarred and your fucking shit kicked in.

Malik is the best girl from any vidya.

>Cute
>Skilled professional
>The only character who never cheats or lies to you
>Saves your ass on numerous occasions
>Grateful when you save hers

Best character

>>332445665
Speaking of bosses, did anyone play the Directors Cut of HR? It made the bosses 10000x better.
>>
>>332445929
>The illuminati pull Jensen's body out of the Hyron wreckage
>He's fucking dead
>Stick a brain in his skull

I'm slightly worried how they're hyping up Mankind Divided to be "multi path", except they literally mean there's just more than one way to progress through the same overall linear path. Their definition of "multi path" seems to be "go along path a (sneaky) or path b (guns blazing), whereas something the original did really well was let you achieve your objective any number of ways. They kept hyping up this new "multi path" shit like it was something amazing, but it really feels like a step back for Deus Ex if that's all there is to it.
>>
>>332446219
>He's fucking dead

Jensen still has to create JC and become the Icarus AI.
>>
>>332442023
I like HR better honestly. I really want to like the original, but I never played it when it came out and it is really hard to go back to after HR. I wish I wasn't such a fag about it, but I've been spoiled ;_;
>>
>>332446020
>Speaking of bosses, did anyone play the Directors Cut of HR? It made the bosses 10000x better.
Can't say it made bosses a lot better, but it's a nice gesture I guess. Even with non-combat builds they are not hard. You can kill Barrett with gas and explosive tanks, by the time you get to Yelena you can get a point in Typhoon and she dies almost instantly. For Namir you just bring a turret from upstairs.
>>
>>332446415
>and become the Icarus AI.
Yeah, nah, that would be fucking retarded. You do remember the entire point of the Helios ending?
>>
>>332442023
Thats not even a legitimate question. Graphics is literally the only thing HR has going for it in that comparison.

Original is one of the few genuine 10/10 games there is (in context of its release date). HR gets barely 7.5/10 in my books.
>>
>>332446352
This. I want more elaborate ways to comeplete objectives than just sneak or blow shit up.

>>332446415
>Jensen had his birth manipulated by the nati
>So did JC

WOOOOOOW

>>332446491
Atleast they knew they fucked up, and probably won't do it again in future.

I heard something about another team doing the boss fights but idk.

Listen to the dev commentary, it's preddy gud.
>>
>>332446556
>You do remember the entire point of the Helios ending?

Despite it being the ending I chose, I actually don't. I just didn't want to side with any of the other douchebags.

By the time I got the dragon dildo I was burnt out on DX. Maybe I should go back and run it again with some mods or something.
>>
>>332446415
>create JC
Wut, JC was created from the failed Paul by the Illuminati/early MJ12. Will be interesting to see what happens to Adam though, wonder if they'll make the new games a trilogy since a big event is Page's coup in 2035.
>>
>>332442023
I never played the original Deus Ex, got HR for PS3 (It was a gift alright) but never played past China. I kinda liked the piss filter.
I have Deus Ex GOTY Edition and the HR Director's Cut on Steam.

Any mods I should install for my first (complete) playthroughs?

No, it means exactly what it meant in the original game. Heck, even in HR there were multiple approaches for many quests. To get to the police station you could convince Haas, sneak through the sewers/back alleys, kill everyone. This notion is also present on micro levels, when you can traverse a location by stacking heavy objects, hacking, running through electricity/gas if you have protection, jumping with the landing kit, etc.
The only thing that reduces the amount of choices is that there is no lockpicking, which was common in the original, in HR many augments are very situational when used out of combat.

Yeah but is Jensen really "human"?

He was born in a factory, raised by a team, and given the Augmented Fetus concept art, I wouldn't doubt for a second that he was born as a machine first and man second.

This is assuming the Helios ending is canon, which who can ever know, since Deus Ex seems dead set on never being a complete story, and rather a bunch of ideas tossed in a pot. If I were a betting man, I'd say Jensen isn't human.

All I know is the symbolism is the best part of DX.

I beat HR once but every subsequent playthrough is just so boring that I stop playing. It's a real shame too because I even got the directors' cut later. Even without augments or upgrades it's so easy to roll through an area leaving a trail of unconscious bodies behind you.
