Pokken (not a lot to do, no real depth to the combat), Hyrule Warriors (a lot to do, but it was REALLY repetitive), Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (can't look at the TV, levels are slow as fuck, it cost too much IMO), Wind Waker HD and TP HD (expensive ports of games I already played that barely add anything), Splatoon (singleplayer was generic not very engaging, I can only play multiplayer games for so long until I drop them), Smash 4 (singleplayer content is shit minus Events, no adventure mode/SSE or anything at all like it, again multiplayer game, so I can only play it for so long)
Games I didn't play yet:
Devil's Third (no reprints), Fatal Frame (digital only and I don't have enough space), XCX (haven't finished XC yet), Game and Wario (told it's not very good and it's expensive now), Captain Toad (seems like a game that could've been just cheap DLC for 3D World), Mario Party 10 (it's not Hudson Soft, so it's probably not good)

That's kinda hard to say. I think its one of those "Either you like it or you don't" kind of games. Its certainly a lot more varied and bigger than the 3D World Captain Toad levels, if that's what you want to hear. Of course it starts out easy, and gets harder towards the end. A lot of different concepts are used, and it also adds objectives to the level, such as finding a hidden item or getting most if not all the coins in the level, requiring you to look and explore absolutely everywhere.
As a side note, its like a prequel going to side story and then aftermath of 3D World somewhat. You start out doing stuff before 3D World happens, then eventually reach levels that are from the Spixie Kingdom, (and no, those levels weren't reused because of that) and then there's more after it.
Its not a full priced game, though I'm not sure if it got the Nintendo select treatment, but if it doesn't its $40 rather than $60. (Not sure if you're in US) You might be able to get a better deal on amazon or something too.

The point of 3D World was to recreate the 'feel' of 2D Mario games in 3D, so for that I'd say it did an excellent job - Galaxy is great too but for different reasons, personally I felt the level design is better in 3DW, whilst the booming orchestral soundtrack and space theme gave Galaxy much better atmosphere.
