What's a videogame series that came back after a long time only to ruin everything you loved about it?

But I cant mention any one right now.
Digimon Tri is not the equivalent to anime by any means but Dragon Ball Super is by far.
Unlike a lot of people I enjoy their new designs.
Not a fan of the quality though. Really can't expect anything more from Toei though. Do they outsource to south east asia or something? The new DB is some of the worst animation I have ever seen as well.

It's just so so bad. I haven't seen a single good piece of animation in the entire thing. It's also purely driven on nostalgia. The vegeta fight had basically everything noteworthy in it that vegeta had done. Gallick gun, final flash, big explosion coming out of his body and usual vegeta beam spam. The entire thing was essentially a gag fight to fill space as well.

I really like Uki's artstyle but it's much more fitting for something more down-to-earthand far less QUALITYlike Cencoroll.

generally, sure. But all 3 of those shows are genuinely underwhelming compared to their older counterparts. For example, Crystal has little to no filler and focuses almost entirely on Usagi, and the main plot - which, while much closer to the source is fucking terrible since filler and the other girls were the best parts of the 90s show.

Super was bad idea from the get go. Once they we redoing the Battle of Gods and Resurrection F storylines. The quality dropped for me, and while I did like a few changes (The big one being Goku powering down to normal thus letting his guard down before getting hit by the suppose Anti-Super Saiyan Blue beam laser), most of the changes have be shit.

Crystal biggest problem was that it was the most soulless adaptation I have ever seen in anime. It lacks all the personality, character, charm that the anime and hell even the original manga had. Everyone feels so robotic and stiff compared to its source martial.

Not really. Dragon Ball went to shit as soon as they made powerlevels, screaming, explosions and aliens the main focus and turned Goku from a Monkey King ripoff into a Superman ripoff. Not to mention had consistently subpar animation.
FF7 may be extremely overrated but it's a masterpiece in storytelling compared to the entire compilation.

The last episode of the Goku vs Beerus fight had pretty good animation, but that's literally all.
It's because Toei is garbage and puts zero effort into shows that they know are going to sell regardless. Have you seen Sailor Moon Crystal? If you think DBS is bad, that's quality galore.

Adventure was slide show as FUCK, it had some of the worst animation I've ever seen, you just didn't realize because you were a kid and it aired over a decade ago. Tri's actually a lot better in comparison and you'd realize if you watched Adventure any time recently.

The tri movies are VERY CLEARLY FLAWED. But I've still been genuinely enjoying them.
It's a little melodramatic and the fight scenes could be a bit more visceral. Quality issues abound. Part 2 improved the animation in the Champion henshins, which is nice.
