Yeah, that's why gaming is dead. Not the fact that they're rereleasing a game from 1993.

As someone who loves Maniac Mansion and Senran Kagura I'll take the game which is actually new over a rehash run through a shitty filter.

Also I still have my NES copy of Maniac Mansion so I can play it any time I want.

You'd have to be a goddamn moron to do that. Day of the Tentacle is an amazing game, but it's an amazing game you should get an original copy of or just run in ScummVM.

That's the "remaster" looks like absolute fucking garbage.

It looks like they ran the graphics through a smoothing filter and then went in and touched it up a little. Like barely the minimum amount of effort was put in at all.
Double Fine hasn't made a good game for decades. They don't deserve my money

Op, I'm pretty sure DOTT was not the biggest hit of the year in 1993 either.

It's a fantastic game, but Puzzle Adventures have never done that well - there's a reason they seemed to vanish for a while.

I'm just glad we're seeing them come back.

It might be worth reading a review or two, from the screenshots it looks like they just used the worst scaling filter available.

If they re-drew all the assets to look like that then Damn.

But they may have added some other stuff. I wonder if they left in the fully playable version of Maniac Mansion in an in-game computer?
>>
Tim Schafer is a SJW! Fuck him!
>>
It really makes me sad that lots of people on /v/ don't realize that you can dislike someone's business acumen or personal character without hating every single body of work they've ever done in their entire career. It's clear that there was a not-insignificant amount of effort put into this remake.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjF4eMrYfG0
>>
>>332394126
Naw, I like SK too. But you're comparing a remake of one of the best adventure games of all time to yet another beatem up with little improvment in the series.

Even as a remake (and possibly a shitty one), I'd still go with DOTT over any SK game... and I'm a guy who still has a 360 for Rumble Roses XX.

EV adds a bunch of new characters, it refines the gameplay, it's the first game in the series to be in actual HD and it has its own storyline which is very charming and expands on the characters.
I have almost no complaints about it, lots of games are iterative and that's not a problem.

I'd rather get this new game than buy an old game I've already played.

>>

>>
>>332395426

It has a significant amount of extra stuff. Off the top of my head

>Much higher quality audio (ripped from the original session tapes)
>Dev commentary
>A lot of unlockable concept art that no one's seen for 23 years
>The option to mix and match the improvements they've made; you can play with the original graphics and UI and retain the HQ audio, for instance

I dislike what DF did with DFA and Spacebase as much as anyone else, but it's a little disingenuous to imply that there's absolutely no reason for a DotT fan to buy this.
>>
I'll buy this eventually when it gets a deep discount or goes in a HIB just to play it with commentary. I've played the original version in ScummVM several times, but I'd love to hear the commentary.

Same with Grim Fandango. I bought the latest HIB that had it because I wanted to play it with commentary, despite actually having a physical copy of the original.

I don't get the anger in this thread. It literally costs $15. If you wanna play the game again (or for the first time) on a new platform with somewhat updated graphics you pay $15 and you get to do so. That's well worth the money if you like the game and and want the comfort of playing it on your prefered system. The only thing that annoys me and that I think is fair to criticize is that these fucking downloable console games will be obsolete with the next generation. I really enjoyed the Monkey Island remakes for the PS3 (along with The Cave) and I think it's pretty weak that they haven't ported them to the PS4. If I do pay $15-20 for an old game I want to pay for it once and not every 5 years.

Well, these days the market is larger than in 1993. So it'd make sense that console game released today would sell more than PC release back in the day.

I just pirated it, GOG makes it especially easy. At least that site is good for something.

It was my first time playing it but I still preferred the original graphics, same with when I played Monkey Island. There's something off-putting about the new visuals. I think because the originals were trying to look good and were developed alongside the game, and the new visuals were just trying to look "cleaner" while still keeping the same proportions and animations, which just looks awkward. It'd be better if they just remade the game from the ground-up, but that would require A LOT more work.

More people bought 2 new games with current-gen presentation and a proven market over a rerelease of a game from 1993 where you walk through a house!?

It's almost as if people want to buy the things they like!

The funny part is that you know Sarkeesian is gonna call Psychonauts 2 sexist for some reason when it comes out, and Tim is gonna feel bad about it
It's a hilarious cycle

How big of a percent chance is there that Psychonauts 2 actually turns out good?
>>
>>332392659
I love DotT, one of my favorite games of all time, but you'd have to be a fucking retard to give Tim "shitlord" Schafer any more money.
