There's something satisfyingly tough about the fact that there is literally nothing I can do but try harder when I get stuck.

Same here. I remember doing that with Hitman/Splinter Cell. Had to be perfect. I wouldn't really chalk that up to the game being hard rather than being a perfectionist.
