EA doesn't care if you don't buy Battlefield, because Chad has bought every single Battlefield since 3 and thinks it's "epic" and doesn't think twice when the Gamestop employee ask "Do you want to buy the season pass?"

Last I played was a few years ago and it was literally nothing by 64 player instant respawn Berlin or BattleAxe servers that were modded to have like 20 tanks and 20 artillery all stationed out of the UK with 150+ ping.

Why should anyone care about Battlefield's canon? How many World Wars have there been in a space of a couple of games? By the first time, everybody should be exhausted. The next war shouldn't happen until 25 years later or something.

DICE has this bad habbit of listening to popular internet opinions when designing their games.
Their hardcore audience don't really spend time on the forums and such so its always the casuals who shout out "cool" concepts and ideas that the developer teams snap up since they think high upvote count is good for sales estimates. A couple of years ago the fad that was the most popular was realism, now people want to have a "Battlefield" experience in WW1/WW2.
The more ideal way develop the series would be a sequel to 2142 since modern warfare is a bit exhausted and BF4 is still holding up good.

throw in some slightly meaningful game modes that pits different teams up against each other with lots of vehicles, players and large maps and you have the "battlefield experience" set.

like I mentioned above, there is this group of band wagon casuals who drive around on different opinions all the time. realism was there for a while, futuristic one day and retro/historic on the next one.
DICE devs have their own opinions most of the time and the realism factor has been thoroughly experimented on in the BF4 development. Frostbite 3 engine has features for realistic factors such as varying wind factors for bullet physics and realistic damage systems which they have talked about in several times in the past, they tried and found out that absolute realism is not fun for this type of game. Hence why they are tired of discussing realism since they know its a shitty concept for Battlefield.
