Well pirating is pirating. Consoles do so well since they're locked down.

Look what happened to the psp after it got cracked

Even so, PC has been doing phenomenally well without drm for so long but publishers have a hard on for drm and it makes them feel better about releasing their shit.

Adr1ft is not worth a shit. It is the archetype of walking simulator and they slown down the character to make the game look longer. I just watched a 4 hour long stream and there's barely any gameplay. It is boring from start to end and the writing is not even worth it.

It is a complete trainwreck from start to end. Even the art direction was nothing special. There's absolutely no tension beside the oxygen meter and it doesn't deplete quickly enough.

I'm not that surprised that it has Denuvo. They better keep the fraud hidden until your purchase.
>>
>>332352182
he worked at microsoft before he got fired and probably saved up, then decided to spend half the game's budget on it
>>
>>332352160
this.

Why do people who don't even pay for games think they should have a say in anything in the game industry? In the end pirates leech off of paying customers because SOMEONE has to buy games, I just wish pirates would admit that, hell even the NEETS on /r9k/ admit they need wagekucks to survive, but pirates act like what they do is a right and is perfectly fine and how everyone should do it (take the daily "Why have you not hacked your 3ds" threads we have as an example).

Its pretty dumb that they think being able to get the game for free with ease would not have a impact on game sales. Just imagine that you are about to buy a item at a store and the clerk asks you "Would you rather pay for it or have it for free?", Which one do you think people are going to choose? Its the same with pirates

tldr:

Pirates don't move the game industry forward, paying customers do. All the "benefits"(muh word of mouth, muh try before buy, etc) that pirates claim they cause all still rely on people buying the game instead of them.

You don't seem to understand that pirates and paying customers are one and the same.
In fact, without piracy, most big spenders wouldn't buy games, music, or movies at all.
>>
>>332354043

Not to mention spam the links and mock people who buy stuff

Ok you go ahead and do that while normies on the ps4 and xbone buy their games.

Stuff like rise of the tomb raider would have been pirated to hell and back simply because it's single player

I'm not at all concerned about money when it comes to entertainment, and I have never refunded a software purchase in my life. I just don't want shit like SecuROM fucking with my system.

As it is, Denuvo incurs a performance penalty. What exactly it does and what adverse effects it has on the host device is still being discussed and discovered, and since the company that developed Denuvo itself won't divulge how it works, I refuse to use anything that implements it.

I'm a pirate and I don't pay for games. If a game is uncrackable, I wait for it or don't play it. There are no games that are must-plays and there are a multitude of free options that are fun.

DRM is completely fine if both of the following conditions are met.
1. The DRM has no effect on the end-user experience, someone who purchased the game should not be able to tell the DRM was there.
2. A free demo is made available for the game so that people will be able to see if it is fun and/or if it is able to run suitably on their PC before purchasing it.
>>
>>332357035

Well technically, Steam by itself isn't, steamworks is. And granted, most of the game sold in the Steam store have it.

From what I've gathered, it's because the protection key ( I'm just using layman terms, you should read real article if you really want to know ) are unique to each computer, and the key are constantly re-generated ( this is the part where people said it ruin HDD, because your HDD need to be always/more active than usual when denuvo is installed on your system ).

The current easy solution to denuvo are, instead of breaking the protection, they make a fake online server for denuvo to be connected to ( chink/3DM does this ), so the denuvo is still active and it's just a workaround for the problem, this is why the 3DM way isn't considered real cracking/scene progress ( and this method isn't from them too ).

Feels free to call me a faggot and correct any mistake.

What if people actually know how to crack denuvo but they are just waiting until a game that is actually worth a damn comes out using it before actually making the crack public to slow the evolution of DRM.
>>

As I said, DRM would be completely fine if those conditions were met. But those conditions aren't met, so DRM isn't fine, demos should really be the video game equivalent of movie trailers, but instead movie trailers end up as the video game equivalent of movie trailers which just doesn't make sense for an interactive medium.

some developers act like people that pirate their games even enjoy 1/8th the game. I pirate a game, see if it is worth buying, then proceed to purchase it, which is what a lot of fucking people do, and the fact that i cant even try some games before purchasing them, stop me completely from buying them. I've never purchased a denuvo protected game, and im not some uber jew that wont buy games, i've got 100+ on steam, no humble bundle cheap bullshit. But i refuse to drop 60+ (obviously not in this case) on a game and have it turn out to be absolute shit. Denuvo tthese days seems to be more of a "I made a bad game and have to trap people into purchasing it) especially AAA titles.

If you create a good game, people WILL purchase the "full" auto updating/patching online game. but if its trash, and not worth the ridiculous price, or the risk of it being bad, people will stay away. It isnt a rich fag poor fag argument. Its a "No, i ordered a burger, not this literal shit on my plate, i'd like to return it" and them saying "You already paid and that's final."

DRM puts me off from buying a game.
If I can't try it out first there is no way in hell I'm giving them my money.
I can try out cars, tvs, speakers, headphones, beds and lots more before I buy them and they cost a hell of a lot more. I'm sure as hell not buying a potentially bad game because the devs are too fucking up their own asses to realize DRM is actually bad.

Exact reason I havent bought Pokken. I want a demo before i drop nearly $80 on a game. It's ridiculous people are willing to spend that much on a whim or other peoples opinions. Watching videos helps but you need to get your hands on a game I find.

If someone told me some headphones were really good and they were $300 I would try them first, so yes, a game is much less expensive but still holds the same rules for me.

Back in my day you handed the guy a dollar and he'd put the game you wanted into the console and let you play it for ten minutes. Two dollars for half an hour, five for an hour. This was a reasonable way for you to deduce whether or not you wanted to blow a bunch of money on the game.
