It's a combination of Edmund's ego and the fact that they've run out of things to do, so they just add shit without thinking.

And most of the new Afterbirth enemies are Mod tier.
Like they're regular enemies but with more health and they explode now.
Afterbirth added some good items and bosses (barring Hush) but a lot of the design was shitty.

This honestly made me give up, the new rooms are such bullshit. Doing the lost was a easier, even post expansion since you have flight and 2 hits now, while keeper just has 2 hits and triple shot with the downside of LAMO NO DROPS.
To make matters worse, not only are health items useless on him, but status ones too.

Starts out with shooting at you and doing swirl shots that don't make the edge of the room.

Then he goes into the light waves.

Afterbirth would be perfect if they removed the small rooms.
Added more positive pills so they're actually worth taking again.
Removed damage scaling on Hush/Ultra Greed.
Remove the new enemies that are just a reskin of the old ones, like exploding Bonies, exploding Chargers, exploding skull things that used to be immortal.
And allowed for Keeper to gain health by picking up certain items.
Like Quarter, Dollar Bill, Deep Pockets, stuff like that.
Still rarer than regular health, but at least it's possible.
And Steam Sale adds the Wafer effect for him.

There are some real new enemies though, especially on later floors.
Early floors still have double headed fatties, fat bats, and the one eyed chasers.

I fucking hate the "forums" because people praise edmund for it. I liked the actual challenge to unlock god head. It was a fucking effort and payed off. Unlocking a cent on a boss that scales with your damage on a character that can only take two fucking shots is the worst pay off.
Seriously though. Keeper should have just been the sonic challenge where you only have life if you have coins and when you hit zero you die.
