Generations was meh, but the controls were not the issue. The controls are fine, it's just that the level design and overall game design is so-so. It's reasonable to like or dislike Generations, it's just kind of weird as a game.
If you didn't like Generations, then definitely stay away from Heroes, Colors, and the rest.

Sorry, but as someone who actually kinda enjoys SA1 on certain days, I have to say the game is absolute trash save for a few decent levels. It doesn't compare to SA2 at all.
I feel people judge the Tails/Eggman levels too harshly. Yeah, they're not as good as the Sonic/Shadow levels, but they're still really fun to play. Maybe that's just me.
Knuckles/Rouge levels are garbage though forr the most part.

Generations is really not that good. Modern sonic is a downgrade from unleashed sonic stages. Classic sonic is nothing like classic sonic. There is no story and has no drama. The music is average and just remasters. The stage choices suck. Its way to short. 9 stages to commemorate 20 years. A lot of bosses suck.

There are a few good levels but actually a lot of them are weak and not really that fun, OST is bangin, chaos are fun for awhile. The worst part is the fucking storyline and the cutscenes but what do you expect really. It's a 6/10 but since I played it as a kid and there's something special about it to me it's a 7/10 in my heart
