On benchmarks, it looks like it uses less voltage but in reality they just put it all on the motherboard instead. That's how they get everyone to report it uses less voltage but all it really does is it increases mobo voltage usage to supply the cpu. Intel is sneaky like that and most people never caught on. GPU accelerated video encoding isn't worth it. It has efficiency issues. With bitrates that are acceptable for stored video (under 20mbps) the quality is very noticeably worth than CPU encoding.

Nvidia cards well just tell your PC it has 4gb of ram. And that's what your mobo, the OS and the game will think. There's nothing wrong with the game using the full 4gb of ram it is suppose to have. Games typically limit itself to use no more than what you have. If you have 8gb, it will think it can use up 8gb of ram. If you have 4gb, it will think it can use up 4gb. It doesn't know you got .5gb of cucked slow shit within that 4gb.

I've seen videos of people playing Shadow of Mordor with a 970 on ultra 1080p and sometimes 1440p. The VRAM issue probably only happens in a certain part of the game.

Honestly, I don't know. Most older games don't use 4gb of ram but I'm seeing more and more newer games can use over 3.5gb of ram.
Also, it really depends on what the game uses the last .5gb of ram for. If it's something important, then yes it will make your frames drop to nill like in assassin's creed. If it uses the ram for something minor... the game may still be playable.

What I am saying is it shows there has been problems and they aren't as rock stable as nvidia was know for. Even if it is only for some it still isn't acceptable for so many problems to be in release drivers which use to basically be the problem with AMD. These should be labelled beta at least.
You should also clip the link in the OP of that thread showing how many threads where made about the drivers. It isn't a tiny amount that can be ignored.
