As far as I can remember, the difficulties don't add anything new except for increased frustration.
The only other endings are the ones where you lose funding for every country and losing the base defense mission.

I would say that you need to play on classic to get the feel of real xcom. It suppose to feel like a hopeless battle, until you get your tier 2 weapons and armor. Then you'll have a chance, not like in normal where a grenade will for sure kill thin man and sectoids

I just hate how in legendary, the soldier would be in the sick bay for 30 days from a small bullet wound and every thing takes 2 as long to research. I been playing commander+ mod, which is legendary without the increase research and wound time. It's pretty neat

More missions, enemies, classes, weapons and upgrades, advanced AI, customisation / cosmetics from mods is better than the DLC as well.
