If you just do a 1.1 port, it will not work and tons of people will get motion sickness from it. Again, this is said by the VR developers themselves.
It's possible that they could make a ton of small changes that could make the experience workable around, but it would be far from easy.
There's tons of small things that the developers have to account for to make a smooth VR transition that we don't even know about.
