I've recently made a new char and playing as a woman instead of a man with permasore throat.
I put nearly everything in Intelligence and Charisma, low Luck, low Perception, low Endurance, first perks black widow, science, caps collector.
It's fun, right now she's still shocked her husband died and she'll slowly fall into her old habit of abusing mentats and sometimes vodka.
She'll mainly use her wits to construct and operate basic armor and advanced laser weapons while relying on Unarmed after a time to release the frustrations.
She's a coward when a companion gets injured, this means she'd either need psycho to attack again or she'll try to hide.

No quest or dialogue will be affected, no plot elements will be affected, in fact, even basic gameplay won't really be affected since you're going to be still shooting people in the face inevitably anyway.

Fallout 4 just never establishes an emotional connection with the player. Shooting is kinda fun and all but if I wanted just a mechanical pure gameplay experience I'd play a competitive FPS. A single player game needs to create that emotional investment to be interesting.

Fuck off, in an actual pen and paper RPG the development of the world flows from the gamemaster. A good gamemaster will create a narrative that reacts and flows from choices your character makes.
You're literally making up rules in a sandbox to play a headcanon. That's fuckin fine and all, it's fuckin sad, but it's fine.
What isn't okay, is a game that labels itself a ROLE PLAYING GAME. A genre that in the west entirely built itself on choice and consequence removing both choice and consequence. Saying you're putting yourself under some meaningless, mindless restriction when the game narrative will develop the same way anyway is mindless.
In New Vegas, and even in Fallout 3 questlines could dramatically change in plot and outcome base don my skills and choices. That's consequence. In the Tennpenny Tower quest, you could get an amazingly alternate ending if you had the right speech skills/ charisma level and made certain choices. You know what that quest is in Fallout 4? Another dungeon with randomly generated pipe pistols to loot.
You miss the point of WRPG games so fucking hard I'm seriously wondering if you've even played Fallout 1 and 2.

The big story problem for me was that your character's origin purpose was already established from the beginning, and you have no choice in choosing what it is, unlike Mass Effect 1 or Dragon Age: Origins. And it's supposed to be an RPG game.
I don't really think that having the main character being a parent was a good idea. The game is aimed at players who aren't parents in real life but it seems you are forced into trying to be in their shoes, and you can't really relate to parental problems. I never felt like I had a connection to Shaun so any choices I made related to him weren't being carried out the way that a real parent would. It felt like this kind of character belonged in a more linear story that you didn't have choices in.
There were also a lot of people asking who you were looking for or where you came from, and you had the choice to tell them or hide it from them but there was no pay off from this. No one finding out that someone was looking for Shaun, no one interested in the cryogenics vault, it was just pointless dialogue.
The endings all felt pointless too.

I was hyped for fallout 4.
I didn't give a shit how bad it might be, I was hungry for more fallout at any cost, because despite the shitfests that were 3 and to a lesser extent NV, I enjoyed the hell out of those games as well as the original two fallouts, and I loved the fallout world. I thought to myself that nothing fallout could be as shitty as skyrim and I still had fun even with that, so I'd at least get something out of fallout 4 regardless of what happened.
I was smiling every second from the beginning of the game til about 20 minutes after exiting the vault.
I was wrong, you see, and I played for a very long time before I could come to terms with it, and quit giving fallout 4 a chance.
Fallout 4 wasn't just shitty, or casual; it was something 1000 times worse: it was boring. It was droll. It was DULL. It failed to entertain me, and after all that time I spent sighing and saying "it's not that bad, it can't be this bad" while I played drive home the fact that it was never getting better.
I sunk days of my life into that fucking excuse of a game and I honestly felt raped. Fallout 4 took my time and my money away from me, and I felt like a fucking fool for not fighting it.
It was worse than every Bethesda game that preceded it, and I regret purchasing it and being excited for it with all my heart.

Has a critical hit multi of something like 4x. With a crit built it's valuable weapon. For vanilla NV it's probably the ONLY worthwhile energy weapon due to bad weapon balancing.
I'd say keep it as a neat tool but focus on small guns.

It's inferred by the way these places are designed as levels. Also how they have buildup (combat zone has a few minutes of hyping you up for a cool raider town) but it's pretty obvious that these places really deserved more than being a glorified dungeon.
I don't think anyone could look at the Combat Zone - what should have been a sick raider town with an arena side quest chain and feel it was better off as a low-level shootout that most players would curbstomp with their Power Armour.
