>He was a great man
>She was a great woman
>He was my husband
>She was my wife
>She/He would've been proud of you

Why do they try to make gay characters in games ALWAYS mention that they are gay? In almost every conversation with a gay character they have to bring up the fact that he/she was a great person.

I just don't understand... I have gay friends and they refer to them as a partner, not a wife/husband. I'm not against homosexuality, it's just video game writers must have no fucking idea.

But then you wouldn't know he's gay. Otherwise he'd be a boring character like Arcade Gannon.
>>
>>332280982
Because they look at games like movies.
They don't assume the story will have enough subtlety in dialogue to slide that shit in gently.

Rather than having casual conversation while out on a mission being like
>got a boyfriend back home
>actually I have a girlfriend, I met her back on planet clambump during the 60th bicentennial triathlon

They go full obnoxious
>Hi Kayla, how are you?
>DID YOU KNOW I'M GAY, MY WIFE WOULD LOVE YOU, WE HAVE LESBIAN SEX, AND SHE'S THE MAN IN THE RELATIONSHIP, HER PUSSY STINKS LIKE ROTTEN FISH
>>
Do you feel as triggered when a straight character mentions their husband/wife? It only sounds forced to you because you don't see it as normal. Think about it for a moment and you'll realise you're making a big deal over nothing.

>>
>>332280982
I never played this game, so i assume they never shut up their relationship

Because most people use he/she all the time, its the default, no one gets called an it unless their a special snowflake who asked to be referred to as such.

I have no idea how to edit but i just had another thought, most gay people use "partner" instead of husband/wife so /pol/tards don`t get triggered, its not just sjws getting butt blasted over everything its conservatives too.
>>
Because EA wanted LBGT support for when they fuck up
>>
I just finished ME1 and moved on to ME2
I hate how stupid the dialogue options are in both because the choices are not the exact words the MC says. Like "very funny=fuck you" or "glass him" or "you're a whore".
it's even weirder in ME2 because of Cerberus fuckery.
So when the dialogue is related to Cerberus, the choices are so vague like you don't understand if the Renegade choice could mean "fuck you cerberus" or "cerberus is for Humanity and i'm racist so i'll join in"
or the Paragon could mean "cerberus is bad" or "cerberus needs a second chance. they only want to help"
>>
Because if a character just flippantly mentions his/her same sex partner in a off the cuff manner it implies that the writers also treat such relationships in a casual way.

It's just a way to show how progressive and tolerant they are all the while daring someone to say something critical, in which case they can call them homophobic and score even more prog points.
>>
Because saying 'partner' sounds like you're trying to be too subtle. Unless there's some reason WHY you should say 'husband/wife' (Protip: There isn't one) there's no reason to be non-specific.

Nice bait though anyway.
>>
>>332280982
It's also why they can't write good female characters, because they're not chicks. You write what you know, and you and I know being straight white guys who happen to need dicks in our porn
>>
>>332280982
ME3 wasn't THAT bad compared to Burcherlands the pre-sequel, 100% of the characters are gay and have to tell you while you do missions for them or they are cucks.

Literally the first 2 npcs that give you missions (the blonde and the little girl) have to spout how they are lesbians.

It was at that point when I realized that going full Renegade is the only one to deal with these fucking people. Deal with your own problems like a fucking man and don't tell me about it, because I really don't want to hear it. Seriously how does one go from being an understanding superior to "FILL MY ASS WITH YOUR SEED SHEPARD!" in the space of a few conversations?

>that message reading secretary woman who wants to fuck all new party members

Normal people don't look at other beings and undress them with their words. What the fuck. Imagine going to your new workplace and then some secretary tells how you're deep soul who needs nurturing or something.
>>
>>332286759
Well she's supposed to be like a psychologist/psychoanalyst or something. She was hired to evaluate the recruits mental states as well as be your secretary. Presumably so Shepard doesn't bumble around bringing up fragile parts of their pasts

I just knew that the game would suck from that point. At least Garrus didn't suddenly turn into a fucking faggot.

Homosexuals are disgusting degenerates, but a character with that flaw can still be an interesting and good character, if done right. Arcade Gannon was my favorite companion in NV, even after finding out about it, while I though Veronica fucking sucked.

Bioware was decent before they got bought by EA and all the good staff left

Playing 2 is acceptable. Stop showing your inner homosexual and admit it's okay for people to like things you don't.

>>
>>332288607
>Why do straight people always do the same?

>>
People that write for video games are generally speaking bad writers.

Good writers go elsewhere.
>>
>>332288607
>Why do straight people always do the same? Why doesn't that trigger you?

Because the vast majority of straight characters don't offer a simple greeting and then immediately jump to sex in the next sentence. Because most straight characters are not defined by their heterosexuality. Because most straight characters don't remind you every conversation of their sexual preference.

>>332288707
Actually you're right, 2 was okay.

>>332288884
But most well written faggot characters are the same. There are some that are over the top but they just come off the same as the straight ones who are all about sex and hooking up.

People just get mad because as soon as someone says "My wife" and they're a woman its the sjw agenda instead of just some dyke talking about her fucking faggot ass wife.
>>
>>332288889
looking back this game doesn't look very good at all oh boy
>>
>>332289000
>as the straight ones who are all about sex and hooking up.

This isn't a majority of straight characters, it isn't even a noteworthy amount. This is what someone who's only ever played bioware RPGs would say, and even then more gay characters are more blatant about their sexuality than their are straight characteres
>>
>>332288607
>Why do straight people always do the same?
You are deflecting.
Are you trying to say that it's ok when either do it?

Or are you trying to say that since straight characters do it, that makes it ok and not annoying when gay ones do?

Et tu croque is not a good way to argue.
>>
>>332289116
Well because the fact is that it's popular to be or at least know someone who isn't straight, and the companies realise that the key to getting the kids to like their shit is to have progressive shit in it.
The smart ones will take a well written character and swap "him" with "her" until they're gay or bisexual or whatever the fuck, and therefore you have a good character who happens to be gay.

The average ones will have a good character, make them gay, and then make their sexuality a talking point through either making them fuckable, or having some sort of super sad tragic event happen/have happened to them because of it.

The shit tier ones will put a sjw in their game.

I don't care in the fucking slightest if a character in vidya mentions in passing something that hints or shows that they aren't straight, unless the game is based around story and characters and they are a shit example of either.
>>
>>332280982
I'd think different gay people refer to their gay partners differently
