There have been talks already of at least one major developer with a long relationship with Sony that is working on a game that will only be for PS4K. There have also been some changes in the past year for the PS Store for devs to send hardware specs in the metadata that gets reported in the store. Fortunately it's only going to be $399.

Modern games will run at slightly higher than 1080p (probably 1440p or thereabouts) and will be upscaled to 4K. The advantage is that even if you don't have a 4K TV you get a higher quality image, it's like Nvidia DSR.

That's where Consoles are at now, they've finally hit that line of thinking where instead of creating an entirely new product that's significantly more powerful they simply take the one they have and upgrade it a bit.
Except instead of the simple method of maybe updating an older video card or processor in a PC, people have to buy an entirely new console to get better performance.
This isn't like the Slims which just had more refined architectures and what not being built more efficiently for a fairly small improvement. It's full blown better shit inside the same PS4 black box.
