It's a fun little game but after playing it few hours it gets irritating and it's not that deep in the end which is shame as the game has so much potential to be 'true' roguelike shooter. It's half baked.

No. They were dumb and tied tick speed to FPS so changing it to 60 fucks everything up. Also Gamemaker is purposefully nearly impossible to mod unless the devs release the source.

Can someone explain to me why you would ever take gamma guts? It only insta kills enemies with 7 hp or less. That is pretty much desert level monsters only, the first area of the game. It just seems like such a poor choice.

Damages everything it touches. Kills the swarms of monsters in the labs. Can be useful in the frozen city as well as the palace. Its a really useful mutation. Try it out next time it might do you some good.

Gamma guts does 7 damage and will instant kill enemies that are at or below that amount of health without hurting you. For the snow level you mentioned here are some of the enemies:
Snow Bandit 8 HP
Robot Wolf 12 HP
Snowbot 15 HP
Snow Tank 50 HP
How is having gamma guts useful in this area? All the enemies will hurt you if you try to damage them with gamma guts.

Pretty strange, but does anyone think the game is too easy? I can handle lil hunter most of the time and all the enemies. I hate the map generation however, I died the last three times due to being out in a huge square with no cover and a lot of enemies.

Hunter is easy once you learn cover is normally the most important thing at that point.
What really fucks the majority of players in that fight is what kind of spawn you get and if you didn't manage to get a weapon that gets rid of all the shits in 7 seconds.

It is always "move and shoot" regardless of your items and mutations. The weapons have varying projectile speeds, damages, AoEs, and fire rates which can be modified by mutations and the characters play differently but there's only a handful of "oddball" ways to play.

i was led to believe this game was less luck-based than BoI, but i'm honestly not sure if that's the case. so much of it depends on if you can get the ammo drops/mutations/awesome weapons you need. too many runs have ended because i couldn't out-dps the horde of crows and salamanders in which i spawned

The narrow hallways in the ice level are great though. None of the enemies have ranged attack, the snowbots can't skid very far, and it's super easy to clear out a 1v1 area for you and lil hunter.

I can't even beat Little fucker with Crystal. I get farther with YV for some reason. I consistently beat Big Dog with YV, but rarely make it past 4-1 with Crystal.

Try messing with screen shake and freeze frame options, Big Dog freezes the screen for like half a second on explosion because of them I think.

Get crown of blood. On every loop the game gets harder with enemies that continually resurrecting after a set amount of time until everything in the level is dead on the level appearing on loop 3.

Literally the only time you'd ever take 3 weapon mutations is like boiling veins+2 weapon mutations but you have to get absurdly lucky to have that before level 9 and still get strong spirit etc.
