OP, you need to sit down for this one. Because there's something you've never realized about the game. And its part of the reason the game is so clever.
Hannah is the ONLY killer in the game. You physically cannot die to any other trap or Wendigo in the game.
Hannah is the ONLY wendigo on the entire mountain that is loose. All the rest are locked up in the asylum and stay that way until Mike breaks them free.
Go back through the notes, look for the butterfly tattoo, watch the video you get for completing the totems. Flamethrower guy captured every Wendigo alive aside from the big boss Wendigo that killed Hannah and her sister. He killed her and its spirit possessed the still alive Hannah who ate her sister due to starvation. There wasn't any wendigo for her to see because they're all locked up. And they stay that way until the explosion at the Asylum. Every single other instance of Wendigo attack in the game is the Hannahdigo. It's brilliant.Okay so there's death by Deer and Mike can shoot Emily, but other than those deaths, everything else is directly caused by Hannah.
The Wendingo stuff ruined the game for me. Suddenly adding a supernatural monster element to the end of a story that is up until that point grounded in reality always ends up shit.
The ending was very unsatisfying too, there's just a bunch of actiony scenes with none of the character dynamics mattering anymore. Nobody got an ending.

I still haven't read anything about Lovecraft but a lot of people have adviced me to since I enjoyed Bloodborne and the whole story behind it being similar to Cthulhu

Yes and Sam only has one occasion where she can die and all she has to do is stand still, Emily has to navigate an abandoned mine, avoid falling into a rock crusher, and outrun a wendigo. She can even prevent her later death by harming the wendigo and preventing herself from getting scratched and potentially shot. In terms of potential for death in playable sections she's the best at keeping herself alive and along with Matt the first to harm a wendigo without even learning their weaknesses from the stranger

Lovecraft is mostly about "cosmic horror", the protagonist in most of his stories is unable to understand what the fuck is going on and the supernatural evils are way beyond human cognitive capabilities. Humans in general are completely non relevant in the grand scheme of things and there are lots of other dimensional beings, outer gods and aliens.
And the following is a pattern he likes to overuse lel: "this being is way too terrible to comprehend and describe" "but hey let me describe it anyways".
