Be honest, you had to use a guide, didn't you?
>>
>>332224564
No. I didn't. I had to drop the claw to inspect it cuz at first I didn't know you could do that in your inv
>>
>>332224564
I went full DSP mode and tried every combination until i got it
>>
>>332224564
No. What are you, a fucking retard?
>>
>>332224564
No, they showed this puzzle at E3.
>>
>>332224564
WAIT A MINUTE
>>
>>332224564
Yeah, I did, although "guide" is a pretty funny name for the book literally two feet away from the door lying on the ground.
>>
>>332224564
I liked Mercer's dialogue. "Ah, old Nordic puzzle doors. They say they're impossible to crack."

Nigger, what!? It would take someone maybe 15 minutes to brute force that shit.
>>
>>332225489
That card
>>
>>332224564
My dad figured it out by walking around and looking at the walls in the room apparently. I didn't know that was a thing.

This. I didn't find out until much later how to do it, and I felt retarded for it.
>>
Nope, I just tried sequential patterns until I got the right one.
>>
yes I did

and I felt like a complete retard for doing so

Anyone who didn't know how to solve this is a casual and HALO or CoD was their first game.

Anyone who has been gaming since the early 90's should easily known what to do.
>>
If you actually had to look this up, I'm pretty sure you are eligible for autism bux.
>>
>>332224564

It's a pretty decent puzzle. Inspecting an item in your inventory for clues is not a mechanic I've seen used a lot in rpgs.

...and then they had to spoil it in the fucking E3 video so everyone knew what to do already. Cunts.

Why do you think having autism makes you retarded? An autist would have known what to do, I'm pretty sure autism makes you better at vidya.

>>
>>332225759
How? You literally only once use this technique where you have to look at that actually item for the code, and it barely even hints towards that idea beforehand? It's easy to miss, as well as the fact that majority of similar doors are accessed in other methods, why would missing this out qualify you for "autism", or are you just throwing out buzzwords?
>>
Why are modern game puzzles so shit

I remember PS2 games having great puzzles that you actually had to think about and calculate shit
>>
>>332225863
The AC2 Animus puzzles were worse. You had to know literal fucking algebra to solve some of that shit
>>
>>332224564
I actually didn't. I already knew what to do as I watched Todd do it in pre-release footage.
>>
>>332225563
But you had the key... He did it without it.

>>332226284
That's sorta the point, though, isn't it? If the door is invincible to being picked (some artifact empowered circumstances notwithstanding) and the puzzle is frivolous so long as you have the key, then what's the point of even having the fucking puzzle?
>>
>>332226134

>>
>>332224564
Nope.

Never saw the E3 gameplay show so insider know the code.

Spent maybe an hour figuring out until I thought I should check the journal of that guy who was caught in the spiders web. It said that the key was on the claw or some shit like that, hinting the code was on the claw. Decided to inspect the claw and saw the code. Really gave me an "Ah, ha!!" Moment.
>>
>>332226670
I couldn't into algebra at school. I'm a literal math retard. Anything else, I'm good, but math? Beyond basic shit, I'm fucking clueless
>>
>>332224564
I tried to rotate it in the inventory, but a dumb bug prevented me from doing it so I had to brute force it. Thank Betheda.
>>
>>332226927
It wont even be a good puzzle either, it will most likely be a "Wait a minute, that lever..." scenario
>>
>>332226927
Sounds kind of like a Lucas Arts adventure game.

this is mentioned explicitly in a book somewhere
it's basically complicated enough that it's impossible for draugr to open, but not people
>>
>>332227509
Silent hill
Obscure had you calculating longitude and latitude and mixing chemicals
>>
The journal you find on Arvel the Swift (the guy who has the claw) has a pretty obvious hint in it.
>>
Nope, I watched some pre release conference footage of skyrim a few weeks before it released and todd himself made a point to show off that the answers were on the bottom of the claw. I just bothered to remember that information
>>
>>332224564
Just bruteforced them. Then one day I randomly inspected one of the claws and realized I was fucking retarded
>>
>>332224564
The answer is in a book you loot from the same guy you get the claw.

It's literally just that, or am I imagining things here? Who the fuck would use a guide?

>>

no i saw them do it in a pre-release trailer.
>>
>>332225462
This. I didnt realizrle i had spoiled every puzzle in the game for myself on accident when i watched.
>>
>>332224564

I looked at the walls and tried to figure it out... then I found out the claw has all the symbols... the game got really boring after that.
>>
>>332227397
It's as if they all had one mediocre idea for every aspect of the game during the start of development, and spread it across a 200 hour game. It's so incredibly shallow.
>>
>>332224564
how retarded do you have to be not to solve it in a few seconds?
>>
>>332224564
Im still mad that every dungeon was literally exactly the same with no variation on design or enemies
>>
>>332224564
I was a mate's place who invited me over to watch him play Skyrim even though I didn't care at all. It legitimately took him an hour to figure this out, he even failed to brute force it because he kept forgetting the combinations he'd done.
When he finally figured it out he said how good the puzzles are now and that puzzle games overcomplicate things.
>>
>>332228864

The dungeons were literally the same rooms copied and rearranged
>>
>>332229161
How do you fail at bruteforcing something like that
I don't understand, unless your friend actually has a mental disability

Well, if you read the books like you are supposed to, to gain information about that..
This is why new games are moron-proof and any challenge whatsoever is ignored.
>>
>>332229530

>read books like you're supposed to

Sure, make the most boring game of the decade even worse by reading nonsense written by some intern at bethesda.
