Is there a game with worse voice acting?
What's most strange about this scene is that the awful laughter is deliberate.
I understand the point of the terrible laughter, it clearly wasn't genuine those characters laugh genuinely several times during the game. That doesn't change the awful cheeseyness of the scene though.
That said FFX can't be the worst voice acting never in a video game. Outside of a couple of scenes like this it's mostly unoffensive.
Aside from Yuna, the voice acting isn't bad at all.

Are you serious? FFX had amazing voice acting compared to some games. Look at the original Resident Evil, some MGS games (charming as it is), or many of the three-dimensional Sonic games.
The laughing scene was a bit awkward, but in all fairness it was deliberate. Hell, even Yuna tells him to calm down and gives him a worried look. It's not bad on accident. The game doesn't have the best voice acting, but it's okay and even good in some parts (see some of the moments Tidus gets angry or some of Auron's lines).
Can you switch off the voices or switch to japanese in the HD version?

Like I said anon, some games. Look at some of the lines read by Hayter in Peace Walker. Look at some of the often quoted, goofily read stuff from MGS1. Look at the hilarious MGS2 scene with the dud.
Most of the time it's due to poor line directing and goofy writing, but sometimes it's just bad. I absolutely love the goofy lines and, like you said, many MGS games have amazing voice acting. But there are bad moments, infamous ones at that.

Had an old Quad with DDR2 but recently upgraded and now it runs smooth as butter with upscaling even. Only miff I got with it now is I don't know how to reduce the dead zone sensitivity of the pad I'm using and the character if left alone in areas/cities/map tends to ever slightly start walking to the left.
