it's one of the few things that make Silent Hill not a place to be fucked with
most of the time, it pits you against very manageable situations - even during bossfights. You kind of get the sense that a normal person would make be able to make it through, that the town itself is somehow even aiding you
but sometimes it wants to murder you dead in two seconds flat
examples of this include; this haunted house, the fridge in SH1, and... I don't recall anything specific right now, but I'm pretty sure that there are more examples of shockingly fast deaths throughout the games
They ran out of budget after the Hospital so they thought a red light would make a good spooky section.
