What the fuck did I just play?
>>
A video game released for the nintendo ds
>>
Baby's first visual novel.

An amazing title that gets even better with the sequel, and part 3 that'll get released in a few months

A visual novel with an okay story.

Holy shit, that caught me off guard
>>
>>332168993
It's this, but you can't deny that it is still a good game.
>>
>>332169601
it rubs many people in the wrong way (including me) when it has about 20 endings or whatever, and the first playthrough always gives you a lame ending where your choices don't matter and you get violently killed

imo it's obnoxious and it tests peoples' patience in all the wrong ways, and I just looked up the rest on wikia

maybe I would've been more lenient towards it if the devs disabled the godawful fucking slow text crawl in said first playthrough
>>
>>332170586
If you actually choose the correct route you get a "to be continued", and the only other required route doesn't kill you either.
I thought the multiple routes were pretty well implemented in this game, especially since not all of them are required.

>>
>>332170965
oh, I got the point, faggot

doesn't mean that its execution was good or tolerable
>>
>>332170586
I get what you're saying, and I found that in 999 at least it was a little tedious to speed through all the text you've already read, but the way multiple endings were implemented made up for it entirely, and then some.

Also, the sequel improves on this by allowing you to jump directly to any point of the game as you like, including right before you make a choice, which fixes my only problem with the first game, really.
>>
>>332171856
hey man, not my problem you were a dumbass and ruined it for yourself.
>>
>>332171457
>implying the ZTD threads don't spoil the upcoming game

avoid them like plague anon, thank me later

desu I never understood why people watch trailers / read news articles about upcoming movies / games - when said trailers and articles consists of literally spoilers and nothing else
>>
>>332171457
Diana dies protecting Sigma
>>
>>332172120
There's no way a game like this can be spoiled in a trailer. The most they can do is show someone dying, but literally everyone will die at some point during the timelines.
>>
>>332172120
>implying the ZTD threads don't spoil the upcoming game
speculation isn't spoiler
If you have half a brain cell you should be able to figure out the same things everyone else does.
>>
>>332172236
I get what he means though, imagine going into ZTD not knowing about the 90-minute gimmick or that you need six people dead for six passwords to escape. I watch trailers and read all the info myself, but going into something blind and without expectations must be a different experience.
>>
Were you satisfied with VLR "true" endings?

I`m sure it will be the very first entry in "archive"menu or whatever. I mean, this is not spoiler at all, calm down.
>>
>>332172736
How would you know stuff like the correct password to the safe the first time through the game? Is the game supposed to handwave the information Junpei and by connection, you should know just because you stumble on the correct path?
>>
>>332170586
I did the same desu. The game/solving parts are great but the story parts are a drag. Sure there are some interesting things to be read but you're just reading through all of it and not actually having anything to do in the mean time.

I'm more patient towards these sort of games but something about this one just made me want to skip it after getting shit endings.

Still a great game btw
>>
>>332172980
I knew where it was, not what it was. It was obvious where the combination was, and why was it To Be Continued when you were free to go look for it?

It was stupid.
>>
>>332168897
A game about little girls.
>>
>>332173086
You =/= Junpei

What Junpei can't know, you can't do. It's a simple concept.
>>
>>332172980
>game has you repeat the same story multiple times
>no way to tell which doors lead to the true ending
>can't skip puzzles you've already done
>skip function refuses to work for no reason sometimes

Please. How am I supposed to care about the story when I can't even get to the good part without having to endure all this shit.

Baby's First Visual Novel would be either Phoenix Wright or Professor Layton.
>>
>>332174253
>Professor Layton
Anon, no. That's not VN

anyway baby's first VN would be Katawa Shoujo
>>
>>332174253
>Layton
Didn`t expect this series to have a story like this and was blown by the twist in the Curious Viilage.
>>
>>332172562
If you didn't even want to know this, then don't visit any ZE-related threads ya dingus. This has been in promos and interviews for over a week, it's not something people treat as spoilers.
>>
>>332174649
Well see, I was staying away from ZTD threads, but 999 and VLR threads were safe until now.
>>
>>332174253
>Layton
Layton is a puzzle collection packaged in a point and click adventure game. AA has also got more gameplay than most VN's while being more linear.
>>
>>332174839
I`m sure nothing crucial will be spoiled until some insider, which is unluckly, decides to pay us us a visit. That gimmick and password are really what is going to be presented at the start of the game, and I doubt there are going to be pieces of news and interviews with spoilers in them as developers understand that the game is highly anticipated mostly because of the series` plot, obviously.
>>
>>332174839
Don't be so naive, anon.

I'm s-sorry.

stop using my ip to post

it's not nice especially in threads about 999
>>
>>332175096
Or it will be heavily spoiled in Japanese media because Japan doesn't give a fuck about the games or spoilers for them. Japan's the reason this franchise almost died in the first place. I hope ZTD is being made fully with Western audiences in mind this time. I still blame Japanese audiences for what they did to Clover.

That audio log is fantastic.
It really kept me hype for ZTD and Diana even when it wasn't confirmed yet.
>>
>>332176150
Does it mean that she is the Brother or at least a cause of R-6 outbreak?
>>
>>332176031
Muh brother and muh Alice aside, I thought her banter was better in 999. In VLR she acts like a airheaded bimbo at times, while she had more sharp remarks in 999.
>>
>>332176262
No, it means she feels responsible for it.
Just like in the Luna ending, Luna feels guilty for letting 6 people dies when she could have saved them.
>>
>>332176262
She is probably the reason Sigma lost both his arms and his eye. Also she blames herself for the outbreak like Luna did but she is probably not responsible.
>>
>>332173396

Technically you are Akane though, and she can tell Junpei stuff telepathically. So if you have figured out where the password is based on the info in the game alone, it should be possible to just tell Junpei to go there.

But getting the true ending first would ruin all the other endings, which is why it has to be blocked off. To be honest they should have blocked off the Safe ending too, similar to how they did it in VLR.
>>
>>332176707
No, I thought it was fine that Safe was the only necessary one, since that's where you learn the relevant information.
VLR had too many locks at times, I like how the different routes has different consequences and information, but not all of them are relevant to getting the true route. You could easily have had less bomb passwords, for example.
>>
>>332176946
VLR did it right. If there were less passwords, then you would know about, for example, 67-years old sigma hologram, or about dio being betrayer and so on.
>>
>>332177156
*you wouldn`t
>>
>>332177156
Yeah but both Quark and Alice's routes aren't that relevant, it's fine that they're there, but I feel like they shouldn't be mandatory. I don't even remember what you learn in Quark's ending, but in Alice's you learn about her backstory and math skills, which is kinda like door 2 and 3 giving you info about Lotus and the rabbit hutch. It's nice info, but not necessary to reach the true end.
>>
>>332177389
This desu. The locks in VLR are neccessary, but some of the info can be easily get, deduced by characters in most routes. Forcing the player to go through every routes just to learn all the bomb passwords is kinda dumb.
>>
How long did it take you to complete VLR?
What are the most difficult puzzles in your opinion?

Are you me? Tried every fucking possible combination in the infirmary.
>>
>>332180109
33 hours? I feel kinda dumb with my 45.
>>
>>332180365
To be fair, I didn't try to get all the bad endings and didn't bother listening to the voices most of the time so I probably cut the game short an hour or two.
>>
>>332168897
this is the absolutely worst video game I have ever played

click anything -> have to read through an unskippable tutorial EVERY SINGLE TIME, even if I click it for the 20th fucking time
>>
Proper way to play:

>play on emulator
>get first ending
>make save states at every decision on your second playthrough
>>
>>332180539
Yeah, i remember masturbating on every gold files entry, it adds up 2 hours I think, then 5 hours of being stuck while doing puzzles (~5 hours), but 33 hours is pretty quick even without bad endings.
>>
>>332179945

>Rec room darts

I managed the gold file almost instantly but spent an hour trying random shit to find out which 91 combination would let me get out of that goddamn room. When I wussed out and went to easy afterwards, my retarded partners just told me Captain Obvious shit that didn't help.
