I found it insanely annoying that every single Lordsoul boss has a 3-5+ minute run between their door and the bonfire minimum, especially the fact that the Four Kings don't even have a bonfire in the entire zone and the closest two are separated by mandatory elevator rides.

Fun how the difficulty spikes of the game differ for different people, I cursed Bed of Chaos for a long, long time but got through Four Kings on literally the first try. Then again, I was so lucky that I had the optimal character build against them.
But NG+ is of course a different story, then 4Kings sure becomes the hardest main game boss when you just can't tank it like on the first playthrough.

I don't get it, I don't think I'm good at this game at all but I didn't find anything to be stupidly hard. Most bosses I've killed in 2 tries tops and it was all kind of disappointing. Orns&Sm, Artorias and Manus were the only fun bosses to fight, they took me 8 - 10 tries.
I played Bloodborne the other day over at a friend's house and that game kicked my ass. The first real boss alone, that guy who turns into a monster mid-way through took me several tries. I was fighting him for 3 hours straight and I beat won by pure luck

It's a really inconsistent fight for me. Either it's piss easy, or I get stuck. I think it was put together kind of poorly, because my performance soloing that fight depends on how they're going to act.
Sometimes there's a rhythm and I can do it procedurally. Sometimes they're off rhythm and Ornstein keeps cucking me, doing shit like spamming lightning throws, hitting me through Smough's back, hitting me through the hammer, hitting me through pillar bases, ect. The clipping attacks he does really ruin it for me, it would be 10/10 if not for that shit.
I got them the first time on my third try using Zweihander on my STR build. Had much more trouble on later builds.

I struggled with them with a dex-pyro build. My maxed out scimi ended up being weak as shit against pretty much any boss, and the kings take quite a few fireballs compared to the other lord souls.
So Demon's Souls consists of a hub world that teleports the player to five separate locations consisting of linear areas.
Dark Souls is one single world where all the areas connect to each other.
Bloodborne was a mix of both where it had a hub but the areas outside the hub connected to each other.
I haven't played 2, how does it and 3 do it? Is it a mix like Bloodborne or are all areas separate?

Yes in the sense that you had to warp back to one spot to upgrade your weapons and level up. But every thing is connected and you can warp to any individual bonfire.

2 is a mix between 1 and Demon's. The best analogy I've seen is a hand, with one hub area splitting off into distinct paths. Some of these paths are interconnected - namely the first few earlier areas - but otherwise the fingers are separate.
