I loved UD but I hope the sequel (not the shitty VR shooter, the real sequel) doesn't pull a red herring like this one did. The game was a lot scarier when it seemed like a slasher-film, the wendigo's were okay but a definite downgrade.
Also, the "stay still" segments are unironically the best use of QTEs ever in a game. Actually, the whole game did QTEs well because you would never have to redo one, you would either pass or fail and the game would move on.

It's not made very clear, but the point is that Chris doesn't actually know whether he's supposed to pull it towards who he wants to save or who he wants to kill, and you aren't supposed to either. I quite liked Dodger's playthough with her fiance whose name I don't recall. It was different from all of the other playthroughs in that they fucked up enough to get most of the characters killed, but weren't infuriatingly oblivious.
So like, they were finding most of the totems and clues and stuff, and were up to speed with the story - they just kept messing up QTEs, which was actually refreshing.
Also Dodger blasted herself onto suicide watch after fucking up and getting Chris killed. She actually collapsed and cried under the desk for like five minutes.

Yes, but she's also the one who completely misremembered/misinterpreted flamethrower guy's explanation about how you turn. One of the main negative traits that Ashley has, which is even explicitly described in her bio, is that she gets overly panicked and lets her imagination warp what is actually happening, which both scares her more and also causes her to not think straight. This, coupled with her stubborn forthright nature, causes her to vehemently argue shit that she isn't even sure is true (see, the 'ghost' thing with Chris and the 'you turn from getting bitten' thing with Emily).
Based on all of this, it seems totally reasonable to me that she would completely forget about the voice mimic thing due to how stressed she is, and follow the voice.

I REALLY liked the Wendigo side of the story, I've never seen Wendigos in games before or any media really so it was unique. Plus unless you're Scooby Doo there's very rarely Native American lore in games. Really well done, I hope the sequel does another lesser known legend/ghost story.
