It does have sort of an anime style but it's basically a mix of real time and turn based war strategy. It's extremely addicting, It's unique so it's hard to compare it to anything but maybe it's like somewhere between battlefield and chess.

When you say "war game," what do you mean? What are you looking for? Drama? Action? Realism? Are you looking for a specific time period?
My recommendation off the bat is Company of Heroes. It's not an FPS but it's got a lot of what you'd want in a war film; a sweeping score, lots of explosions and set piece moments, plenty of action, and sassy quips.
