Is Ironhax problematic to get running? Apparently you need to "pre-hack" your 3DS to do it or something.

Damn it OP you're making me want to get a N3DS lite so I can customize my faceplates.

N3ds xl, 10.7 emunand, 9.2 sysnand running arm9loader.

Sure, for the average peasant that's nice.
But with Arm9loaderhax out there's no reason to waste money on such cards.
>>
>>332112989
All I wanted was free 3ds games, and that's what I got.
>>
>>332109258
My blaccover plates from China got here.
Problem is, my n3DS is still at my state capitol's UPS. Fuck UPS.
>>
>>332112750
Why use EmuNAND when you have a9lh? Waste of space for something so insignificant as a minor security addition.
>>
>>332113187
$80 on sale
After loading just 3 games, it already paid for itself.
Navigating games takes like 5 seconds because I have the load order memorized.
I can emulate all the other stuff on my pc.

What do you mean exactly?
Once you have the emunand set up you always use it from that point on and can update it like normal.
I think you're very mistaken on the simplicity of CFW's my friend.
>>
should I just go ahead and get a bigger SD card before I start downgrading/CFW'ing? I feel like 16GB isn't enough
>>
>>332113628
I already bricked a system following the guides to the letter. Used ask up to date files to update to 9.2 and the system was gone. All I wanted was to play 3ds games, so paying $80 for any amount of games that I want with no risk was worth it after getting burnt like that.
>>
>>332113424
It's just a habit. I'll get around to clearing up my SD card space. Its 32 GB so I'm not too worried about it.
>>
>>332113776
16 is enough, but if u have money to burn then buy more capacity
>>
>>332113809
how about you just hack it again? 10.7 is hackable and the worse thing that will happen is a soft brick making you update to 10.7 again
stop being a bitch
>>
>>332113809
Don't forget about the private headers otherwise no online.
>>
Is there a handy pastebin or something with instructions on how to install?

Also, what's a good 3DS to buy? The firmware on my main one is going to be well past what is able to work with
>>
>>332113776
You'd be surprised what 16gb's is capable of and it's fairly easy to transfer over once you understand what you're doing (literally a 3 step process at this point)
>>
>>332114067
It was hardbricked. Can't hack it again without a hardmod. Sysrestore doesnt work. The screen's backlight doesn't even turn on. It was a 2ds so it was only a $60 system, but I'm not risking it with my N3DS. Besides, I already have the flashcart now, so cfw would be redundant at this point.

>>332114104
I don't play online, but I am aware.
>>
>>332114315
the only way to hardbrick is if you did shit wrong
>>
>>332114640
I didn't do anything wrong. Everything went as the guide said it would until the 9.2 cia files were just about finished installing, then poof. Nothing else from the system.
>>
>>332114736
no literally there is no way to hardbrick unless you did something wrong, you can only softbrick unless your a retard.
u probaly got the n3ds files and not the o3ds files like a spud
>>
>>332113241
>>332113628
>Free
Sure it's not free, but he payed the price of two games (at least where I'm from) to play free for the foreseeable future.

It's better then nothing, though if nintendo updates something which fucks SKY3DS he's stuck waiting for a fix, while CFW users will most likely have a way to play regardless.

CFW is better then SKY3DS but more work.

>>332114315
Sadly what this anon said >>332114640
You either skipped, followed or misinterpreted a step wrong.
Alternatively you followed a bad guide, which there are plenty of.
>>
>>332114893
>>332114948
I followed the guide for the 2ds. I read everything carefully. Not sure why I would lie about it on an anonymous image board? If anything, I would gladly accept advice on a way to restore the system. I reread the guide several times to make sure I didn't skip a step, but I did everything as it said.
>>
>>332115294
not saying your lying, im saying your a retard that used the wrong guide and cant take the fact that your retarded so you try to blame other shit.
>>
>>332115524
No need to be a hothead. I'm capable of following simple directions. I followed the current guide for 2016 on gbatemp.
>>
>>332112349
Nintendo has openly stated that if they find a way to brick your shit for using Sky they will.

Instead you could just install A9LH and get permanent protection and Nintendo will never be able to do shit about it.
>>
Need some help. I have a 3ds xl with firmware 8.10-19u(hAven't touched for years.) I just started researching today and found an article on reddit saying I should be at 9.2.

Should I update to 9.2 or can I do this at my current firmware?

Also, anyone have some other guides than reddit?
>>
>>332116092
you can do it on 8.1 but 9.2 gives you the most options best features

do this

stop trying to blame others for your fuck up and ill chill out.
gbatemp usualy has good info but you gottaa read the feedback as well as the guide.
go and bitch on /hbg.
also there is no fix for a hardbrick with out hardmodding and having your nand backup
>>
>>332113776
16GB isn't enough but it's enough to CFW it. There's tools to copy the CFW to another card too, meaning that you can essentially swap the SD cards without breaking anything. Even the 4GB that my 2DS came with is useful
>>
>>332115294
Sadly, if you're bricked and recovery mode doesn't work then hardmod is the only option you got, if recovery mode works and you can update to 10.7 you can attempt it again with OOThax. Otherwise you're doomed.

If you want a proper guide for CFW then Plailect is the guide.

You should be on 9.2. Follow this guide to get there

>>332116343
I'm not blaming anyone. Not sure where you're getting that impression. I was only starting my experience. Of course I read the feedback before starting, that should be self explanatory. I'm not even bitching that it happened.

>>332116452
I am aware.
>>

Phallus' guide doesn't include EmuNAND anymore. He's making users update through SysNAND because he's retarded. Find another guide.

How do I boot straight into emunand?
I tried with menuhax, but everytime I tell it to boot into homebrew channel and then use rxtools to boot emunand myself, it just keeps booting the homebrew channel.

Did I do something wrong?
I mean, I can still boot emunand by going sysnand > homebrew > emunand just fine, but booting emunand directly would be a lot less time consuming.
>>
>>332116951
>used a guide and read the feedback

its to late for you just go on buying games. im surprised you could use a sky3ds

Is it PSP easy yet?
>>
>>332117135
You just drag .3ds files to the sd card and play them. You sure are committed to the idea that you're more intelligent than I for hacking a 3ds.
>>
>>332117314
Hell-the-fuck-no. PSP was piss easy to hack. 3DS requires an essay worth of directions that can take hours, and will very easily brick your shit if you miss one step.

Once you have it hacked it's simple to install games though.
>>
>>332117083
Not going to bother reading through the guide, but pretty sure he excludes EmuNAND on a9lh.
Which should be done because you don't need it anymore if you go this path. Keeping EmuNAND then is just pure paranoia.

It's still the go-to guide for highest rate of success.
>>
>>332117385
no im just like every other standard retard on here so im just trying to make you relies that you are more retarded then most of the retards that visit this site.
you should feel bad

How easy is it to convert to the A9LH meme if you already have Emunand set up?
>>
>>332117819
Easy, but time consuming.

Plus you have to flash your SysNAND twice. So there's a small risk factor there, but follow the guide and you won't brick.

Last time I checked some people had to redo process 30 times or more to succeed and honestly I don't think I would endure the stress.

If you follow the earlier linked guide to the exact letter, you won't have to do that.

Question to all the senpais. If I go out right now and buy a new N3DSXL and follow the guide I found in /vg/, I will be able to play free games? Or do I need to hunt down a old 3DS on ebay?
>>
>>332119919
Right now ANY 2DS/3DS/n3DS can be hacked right now regardless of new or old
>>
Anybody know how I can update emunand on N3ds using Gateway? Every time I enter the settings, it switches back to stock firmware.
>>
>>332119669
The general consensus is that cakes is for advanced users while AuReiNand is for Newbies.

They both behave the same for the average joe, with cakes being overall most stable atm while AuReiNand is still being worked on, getting new features and more "Noob friendly" options add to it.

I recommend cakes as there's good guides taking you from the very start to the end.
>>
>>332120157
If that´s true, why is the Sky3DS selling like icecream in summer?
>>
>>332121297
Because some people are retards who would rather spend $90 on a flashcart with limited features for free games rather than taking a couple of hours to do it for free instead with no limits

>>
I got a gateway like two months before RXtools got out. Not that I'm complaining, it was well worth the price in the end and emulating DS games is cool.
Only real problem is that downloading 3ds roms is a pain in the dck and the 3ds catalog is not that good tbqh.
>>
>>332120419
I hope I´m just seeing negativity where there is none. Ease of use, a faster and more intuitive UI is nothing but all good. Cake is working, but is a hassle. I would trade it for simply transferring the ROM and play it directly over the hurdles I have to jump.
>>
>>332109258
I've got 9.2 but most tutorials for emunand and shit are terrible.
>>
>>332119608

>>
>>332122072
>Cake is working, but is a hassle
True, a hassle to set up but once done it's much more comfy to deal with.

I do know it's annoying having to install CIA files on CFW, which I assume you don't have to do with Sky3ds? (as there's just .3ds files, right?) So there's that plus.

But if a update arrives that breaks SKY3DS you have to rely on their support to get it working. Which is the downside, as you never know whenever it's going to drop it's support, meaning you've potentially lost 100$. (The M3 card dropped it's support early in the 3Ds life cycle)

SKY3DS is expensive, but hassle free way to pirate.
CFW is free but a bit more complex to deal with but offers more features.
>>
>>332122072
I'm >>332122050 and honestly I'm trying to understand this shit like cakes and rei and I'm not getting it. The scene is too hard for me to understand. I don't even know if there are any benefits, I don't know what the point of using them if I can already play games and I also don't understand why everyone creams themselves with homebrew when that shit has nothing going on for it beyond themes and a half working emulator.
>>
>>332122302
>https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki
Best and easiest guide you'll find.

>>332123460
The 3ds scene is very complex, especially when compared to older generations, such as PSP.
Further more, it doesn't help that there's a real lack of actual in-dept guides that explains terms, exploits and how it works. Everything is just do this and download that, which makes it hard to understand what's what until you've done it.

So that makes 'hacking' your 3DS more suited for the teach savy peeps and cheapskates
In the end it's good to have a options available.
>>
>>332123460
Most of us don´t understand a lot of the shit we did. We just follow the guide. And fuck do I forget sometimes whenever I have to get a new game working, back to the guide.
