The standard roll system is garbage. Smart guilds have gear priorities, especially when it comes to main tank and (main) healer roles. You just never raided in a good guild or played a game that actually demanded you to gear up your doods efficiently.
Besides, it's crap when a guy has been doing the same raid ad neaseam for 10 times just to get one drop and then some guy comes for the first time and gets it. That's kinda fine for standard dungeons, but not the way raid guilds work. Just deal with it.

DKP was pretty much cancer and only rewarded attendance and not performance. Not that loot council or anything like that was any better
DKP is perfect. The only person who would complain about it is someone who is lazy or simply doesn't have the time to commit to a raiding guild. In either case the person has no right to complain. The system is made to promote activity. It means that you'll want to join the raids because you'll be guaranteed a drop when it happens if you are active. It will also give people a reason to go do old raids for new players even if they are completely geared up, because they can get DKP saved up for other raids. It benefits everyone who's interested in playing the game. It's only bad for welfare queens.

usually the MT was the guild leader so unless the guild leader was going to abandon the guild (which is still possible), it wasn't that much of an issue, from my experience. From all the guilds I've been it was usually the off tanks who were poached and not the main tanks, which still sucked.

I remember before that guy's old character got banned he attacked grom'gol with some friends, a mage and a paladin (both pretty well geared). First time he ran in I think he killed like one level 30 which I resurrected before he ran out. Second time he had the paladin run in and distract the guards by bubble hearthing and didn't do shit. I was seriously in level 30-40 green and blue mail and he couldn't kill me before getting chased away by guards and a swarm of lowbies.
