I just finished playing
Hit a wall in Survival. Beat it with everyone on Easy and Normal. Hell with Ryu, and Hard with Ryu, Ken, Chun, and Cammy. Stuck at Nash.
For ranked,started the night at just over 3000 points. Ended up dropping all the way down to 2700+. Spent the next five hours grinding away and finished at 3308.
Fuck man, I just want to hit gold league so I can platinum this goddamn game and then sit casuals forever.

I went 0-2 the first three tourneys I went to. I'm certainly not saying it will happen to every new tournament player, but it can. Don't let it discourage you though. If you do take a loss, a good thing to do is swallow your pride and talk to the guy that handed you your ass; most FGC players are surprisngly nice and more than willing to share some knowledge with new blood.

As a competitive player with decent success I can say that this is true, most important thing is to get in there and become a part of the community regardless of early results.
However, your success is largely dependent on your skill, people like to hate on online warriors but a 4000pp player is a 4000pp player even offline, although there are some important skills you only pick up by playing offline.
