It seems I semi bricked my n3ds after trying to downgrade from 9.9, do I seriously have to update to the latest firmware now or is there a way to update to a certain firmware?
I hacked it the day n3ds was released and to this day, there's simply not that much to play on it.

I'm currently experiencing hardware troubles.
I'm waiting for replacement parts to come in so that my 3DS will actually, you know, turn on.
Because I only recently got a 3DS, and was even more recently made aware of the hacking scene.
It's on 10.7 right now, which I'm pretty sure requires Cubic Ninja, or an OoT game cart with a powersave on it.
Also, I am literally incapable of working out anything on my own. If I ever did try to install CFW on it, I'd probably be posting five new questions to /hbg/ every minute, and I'd still end up hard bricking the thing.

There's usually never any benefit to updating. If you're that impatient with not being able to access the eshop or online being blocked out then I'd recommend just picking up a second 3DS

AuReNAND also has built-in boot-image functionality. You need to just have splash.bin in your aurei folder with an image converted to the appropriate format.
