Convince me to buy a ps4 bros. I have the money, I want to play games. I have a ps3 which I feel doesn't provide me with the entertainment I yearn for. I enjoy immersive, pretty, grindfesty rpgs, and fanservice. What are my options?

Tell me what to do /v/.

>>
I don't have any games for my ps4
>>
>>332006546
I used to be completely anti-console. Only had a SNES and a ps2 before going PC.

PS4 is a very cheap alternative to PC, you can buy used games for around 15€ and there's a good amount of those to have fun.

If you don't own a good gaming PC then PS4 is the second choice, if you do, then don't buy one. Worse graphics, worse framerate and a much more limited use.

Disgaea 5, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, and DOAX3 will literally sustain you for a year if those are your requirements.

Thanks for the yous. Is it worth waiting for e3 to see if they come out with an improved version?
>>
>>332007174
I doubt the improved version will be that big of a deal, they can't possibly make games that won't run on "old" ps4s. It's rumored to support 4K which will be useless to most people because 4k isn't cheap enough right now.

The only reason to wait would be to buy the old ps4 cheaper, but you said you already ahd the money, so don't wait.
>>
>>332007174
Honestly even if they do it'll most likely just be a slim version that's better suited for 4k video content.

There's no way they're changing the actual hardware since it'd necessitate patching every existing game to run on the new version as well, and one of the key focal points for their pitches to developers for PSVR has been that every ps4 is the same so developing games is easier

Kinda hoping youll be able to watch movies on the PSVR set, would be nice to just lay flat in bed with the headset on watching blurays and what not

I could see a a PS4.5 console that would work. Since most games are also on PC the 4.5 console would just play at higher settings then the PS4 console.

>I gotta say i'm more of a PC player for that framerate
Every PSVR game has mandatory reprojection. Most games will run at a perceived 120fps, while the absolute minimum is 90fps. In PSVR if a game somehow drops framerate you won't notice an actual drop, instead the image will warp/distort a tad more but keep the framerate.

Either way PS4K is confirmed to be released this year for around $400. Check TheKnow and DigitalFoundry so if you want to guarantee good framerates you should get that one, probably every game will run at 60fps with no exceptions, since they need to make the compatible with the base model, or they'd lose 40million consumers.

It is the best solution for the time being as I already have a VR capable PC, I have been excited about the technology for years now and don't have the patience to wait for 4k per eye + eye tracking + 3D haptics and a GPU powerful enough to run the damned thing.

PSVR has a much better price point but its tracking is sub par, if I already had a ps4 I would've considered it over the Rift/Vive. My choices were spend $927 on vive or spend roughly the same amount on a PS4+PSVR+PSeye+PSMove+PSPlus for online play.

They would have been better off releasing VR on a new console designed with VR in mind. PS4 is just too weak for a compelling experience, developers would have to sacrifice way too much quality to achieve steady 90fps.
>>
It's been a year since I bought my PS4. The only decent game was Until Dawn. I didn't renew PS+. What's the point?
>>
>>332014593
>>332009972
seriously how could anyone get PSVR after seeing the potential of PC VR, PSVR will literally only give you a subpar gaming experience while Oculus&Vive will be better at gaming on top of doing anything else on PC with it.
>>
>>332015174
It won't really play at higher settings. Maybe higher resolution or higher FPS (for games where the devs didn't go full retard and tie their physics to the framerate). The models, textures, lighting and everything will be the same. No one's going to make a second version of the game with more expensive graphics.

Many things in that post are misunderstandings, not true or at best half-truths, but I can understand your purchase since you don't own a PS4.
I still find it excessive to spend that much. Just like I feel it's a waste to get a 980ti instead of a moderately priced GPU, even if the former performs better.
I could go either way, being an artist myself I have/need a high-end PC. But right now there are many more PSVR games that appeal to me personally. Vive/Oculus have more indies but I don't care for low quality games made from new developers.
All of Vive's modeling/art programms look very underwhelming to me, for example

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgBV4l_NB4c

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3WR_d4OIeg

I'll only get PC HDM's when they are on the 2nd or 3rd gen, get competent devs like sony already does, and cost under 500€ (Vive is US$1100 in my Yuropoor country)
>>
>>332020054
>1st gen product

but it isn't. the consumer release of Vive is the 2nd gen and Oculus is releasing 3rd gen to consumers. Oculus in particular has been in the public since 2012 dude. There's no reason to wait any longer at this point, this is the year of VR

It's main advantage is being significantly more affordable for the average Joe especially if they have a PS4 already.

Cost aside, PC VR from a technical standpoint is without a doubt significantly better, particularly the responsiveness and large tracking volume for roomscale on the Vive.

Another great thing about Rift/Vive is the ability to run applications outside the vendor's store. For instance porn games are banned on steam/oculus/Playstation stores but you can download a standalone application elsewhere and run it on your system.

System specifications are more flexible as well since you can upgrade your PC to ensure you can run at 90Hz+ on the highest settings possible.

Considering PSmove was on PS3 and works on PS4 it is possible that PSVR would be backwards compatible on the PS5.

You can probably install porn games and third party games on PSVR if you jailbreak your device to run homebrew applications but it sounds like a massive hassle in comparison.

Playstation would also have a larger lineup of higher budget titles however though some would make their way to PC eventually.

There will be a lot of shoe string budget titles on the PC, especially considering PCVR is a niche of a niche at this point.

There are a few decent games I can list off the top of my head, though none are lengthy big budget titles to be hyped about, but they are good enough to pass some time with until some amazing games start to come out.

Its a damned shame Chronos is Oculus exclusive.

Rift:
>Chronos
>lucky's tale
>I expect you to die

Vive/Rift:
>budget cuts
>space pirate trainer
>skyworld
>Vanishing realms
>Waltz of the Wizard
>Legend of Luca
>Albino Lullaby
>Elite Dangerous

There should be more interesting titles in the works that haven't been revealed yet. They'll start popping up in a few months after the HMDs are out.

I am also excited about the potential with metaverse applications like JanusVR and doing CAD work and physically interacting with mechanical components in VR.

My brother and i each got one launch week and there's only been two things to note.
Sometimes it'll go into a safe mode loop and boot to the safe mode menu. If that happens kust do rebuild database and it should be good. Happened to me only once, my brother twice.
And my brother's just stopped working in december. I'm pretty sure the processor chip actually fell off due to shitty paste. I guess that happened to several people.

Other than that, i've had no problems and haven't realy heard much.

Yeah I am aware of most of those, but actually thought Elite Dangerous was also a PSVR multiplat, huh. Guess it's only Eve.

The major difference I see with PC and PS4 launch libraries is that while both have a lot of indies and "potential", but PS4's indies tend to be slightly higher budget and fuller experiences, like 100ftTallRobot or AA games like RIGS and Dreams. But in the AAA arena PSVR has 2 games I have always been a fan of, GranTurnismo and AceCombat7, these two alone really push me to PSVR's side. While on PC neither Oculus or HTC can twist big publishers and developers hands like Sony can and did with EA and DICE.

In the future I hope most VR games are multiplat and AAA's get full VR-compatibility. But right now in the near future (next 2 years) I see more advantages for higher quality games on PSVR. Costing half as much also helps.

>potential with metaverse applications like JanusVR and doing CAD work and physically interacting with mechanical components in VR.
I still have my doubts. I'm liking Dreams because it simplifies everything and makes it viable for VR, it undercuts similar programs like Zbrush and perhaps can be used as a substitude for quicker concept art / sketching.
But when it comes ot serious developing I think most people will do the bulk of their work in, say, Unity on a flat screen and then use VR to polish things up like getting the perfect scale in-game.
Unless they seriously re-purpose and simplify PC programs for ease of ues in VR I don't think many people will bother to go through extra effort of doing meaningful long-hours work in VR instead of a flat screen with M&K.

I hope they find a way as it would help me out, but I still think we are far away from real practicality (I'll give it 10 years)

>>332025070
My PS4 also randomly beeped even when turned off. But I fixed it by tightening a force-eject screw. I think most problems come from launch PS4's. As long as he avoids them he should be fine.

Not the original anon, but all this might actually convince me to take the plunge. I'm curious about omega quintet and driveclub, are they any good?

take in consideration I didn't list any console-only multiplats. If you don't own a Xbone either there are even more current and upcoming games

>omega quintet
I'm not a fan of senran/nep, I guess this has the same quality as those?

>driveclub
It's not 100% arcady or 100% sim, but a mix of both. If you liked PGR on the 360 this is similar. It also has a DLC (or stand-alone, you can pick either) motorbike game which I thought was really fun (and rare nowadays)
The game lacked a lot of stuff on release so it has mediocre reviews, but since then they updated it a lot and it's much improved now.

I'm disappointed you're not interested in EDF4.1, shame on you famishi

What are the best multiplayer experiences on the PS4?

I feel like I'm squandering my PS+ subscription by only having single player shit

Well if it isn't too much trouble, do you have a console only multiplat list lying around somewhere?
I'm sorry senpai, I'll look into it

sorry, too much work. The best place I know of that compiles thorough lists is

ctrl+f PS4 and look month by month. Unfortunately you need to know in advance which games are only console multiplats. The biggest two I can think of right now are Destiny and FFXV

you fucking better

Alright, thanks at any rate, guess it shouldn't be too hard to check on a case by case basis if a game catches my eye

Someone recommend me a good japanese game for ps4.
Thinking about Estival Versus but not convinced that it won't get boring and repetitive quickly like most beat em ups.
Any good JRPGs?

The SAO games aren't top tier but they aren't absolute shit either. One of them costs under $10 so maybe check it out (Hollow Fragment I think)

Digimon is a detective story / thriller. Even though it looks like pokemon the game structure is most similar with a normal jrpg. Think of the digimon you gather as demons in SMT games that you fuse together and whatnot.

You can put a lot of hours (100+) into Disgaea5 and Witch&theHundredKnight, but neither has typical Jrpg combat, one is a tactical game and the other a diablo clone.

I think that's pretty much it for now. The explosion of Jrpgs happens this year, starting with SO5 in summer. Also, OdinSphere remake and GrandKingdom are comming in 2 months, one is a beat-em-up the other is a mix of MegamanBattlenetwork and EtrianOdyssey and
FF Tactics and Valkyria Chronicles.

EDF4.1 is japanese so I'll just slide it in here

>$20 for an N game? No thanks
I got it for 11€ discouted. I agree 20 is too much but it's the most featture complete of them all, last one I played was the DS version.
