OP is my nigga
having fun in video games despite stupid shit people always bring up whenever its mentioned about it only being fun for 2 weeks after it was released or whatever
>>
>>332000281
are you expecting something from us?

Something something "I UNINSTALLED BECAUSE CASUALS"
>>
>>332000542
The way people here talked about it made it sound like hats killed everything
>>
It's kind of a clusterfuck now, but it's still probably the most well designed game ever made in my opinion.

The core mechanics are still there, which is why the game is still fun.
>>
>>332000872
I'm beating everyone with just the default weapons. I'm an oldfag though, I've not played in about five years but it has come back to me fast.
>>
>>332000774
they did, albeit slowly
trying to play now is like fistfighting a toddler, its just not engaging
like 99% of the skilled or potentially skilled players have moved on, the only ones left are dangerously autistic "le ironic memesters" desperately trying to hide just how uncomfortable they are with how large a portion of their life theyve dedicated to this awful game
>>
>>332001235
Anytime someone bitches about OP weapons, I like to point them to the Scattershot. Six shots, more than enough to kill anything that moves.

And as long as you have the movement down, you're basically immune to damage from Spies and Medics.
>>
>>332002159
The scattershot is high risk, high reward. Which is what we want in games.
>>
Game is growing again, which is nice. Guess we'll see how it turns out when matchmaking comes out of beta.

Hats just kind of changed the focus of the game. Suddenly, these pointless cosmetics that some feel ruined the visual style of the game are worth $200+, and people care more about the hat you're wearing than how you play.

Once the months of nothing but cosmetic updates, the serious players started to get jaded cause the new weapons stopped, the class balance stopped, and it really seemed to just be about hats.

That seems to be changing now with the last two updates, so that might be why it's growing again. I'm hoping matchmaking is gonna help.

Vaccinator still the most entertaining weapon in the game.
>>
> try matchmaking
> skill level difference causes to be BTFO
>>332004503
adding new guns ruins the paper scissors rock of the game eventually. they stopped while they could and started weapon skins instead.
TF2 servers are still regularly full since valve have been constantly updating it.
>>
I heard they nerfed the demoknight and tide turner a few months back. Is it true? Are they shit, now?
>>
>>332005314

They got nerfed a little, but I still think they can be quite strong, my pocket was playing demoknight with the tide turner and wee booties and was doing quite a bit of damage.
>>
>>332004968
Vaccinator is so incredibly broken.

That is, of course, until you have 5+ players on the other team, then it's fucking garbage.
>>
>>332006053

I can still pull off the vaccinator even with lots of enemies on the other team, it does get a bit trickier, but as long as you're not fighting large groups at one time it's still a strong ass weapon. Being able to pop multiple charges at once can be a life saver.

I'm pretty fine with the current trend of balancing the weapons we have now on regular basis so that everything has a reason to get used.
>>
>>332004968
What's that?
>>
>>332006214
>as long as you're not fighting large groups at one time
Well that's never the case outside of pubs, but I suppose if you know what you're doing and the enemy team isn't that great you could make it useful on high-populated pubs.

I still prefer the default medigun in almost every situation that isn't wiping the enemy team with the free pregame charge by kritzing a demoman on pl/plr.

I barely even noticed anything from those Demoknight nerfs, it still has the power and potential in my eyes. Aside from the fucking cuntfaces that sticky spam and they think they'er good because of it. Those people are what give Demo players a bad name.
>>
>>332006429

The vaccinator? It's a medigun that instead of having a traditional uber has mini ubers at every 25% charge that give you a 2.5 second shield for a specific resistance that you can change. The resistances are fire, bullet, and explosive. The gun charges incredibly fast and if you're good with it you can absolutely crush an enemy team. It does lose effectiveness against lots of enemies, but that's why you pick and choose battles.

>>332006492

I pretty much only play pubs, I'll definitely acknowledge that the weapon would not be that great against an actually skilled team, it has it's weaknesses for sure, but in pubs it absolutely dominates. I also really don't play in games that have more than 24 people, because I hate playing with that many players. The reason I like the vaccinator so much is I play exclusively with a pocket and we know exactly how to get the most out of the vacc. The vaccinator in my mind is a weapon that works best with a dedicated pocket.
>>
>>332006694
Well, I'd be getting on right now, but I think my keyboard just died.

>splendid screen
>alibaba's booties
>whatever the fuck the katana is called

One of the most effective and most fun experiences I've ever had playing TF2. It's funny how much just a melee weapon can do.
>>
>>332006821
I miss the pre-nerf vaccinator. It wasn't even broken back then, just great for protecting you and your heal target from stupid bullshit like sniper headshots and random crits. A collaborative push from the enemy team was still enough to kill a vacc medic easily. All they needed to do was slow the charge rate, but it definitely needed to keep the crit resistance, since the moment they removed that, silver+ snipers went back to having a grand total of zero counters.
>>
>>332006821
So is there a TF2 "meta" of some sort at the moment?

I mainly enjoy Scout and Pyro, so what are the OP weapons for those?
>>
>>332006990
I-I use a laptop for 4chan and less-intensive games like Thief 2, Gemcraft, and porn games, and use a desktop for faster paced stuff that might need more power.
>>
>>332006694
There's nothing wrong with spamming as long as it's done in the right places at the right times.
>>
>>332000281
It has literally always been fun. /v/ is dumb.
>>
>>332007220
Off the top of my head (which may be incredibly wrong)

Scout: Scattergun, Pistol, Atomizer

Pyro is fucking terrible, but generally I've taken a liking to Stock, Stock, Homewrecker for defensive stuff with Backburner, Detonator, Back-scratcher for offensive stuff.
>>
>>332007209

Pre-nerf vaccinator was a lot of fun but had it's flaws, gun mettle vaccinator was shite and too weak, this new vaccinator after the buffs and positive things I feel is stronger than pre-nerf vaccinator. Crits don't take all your charges, which is amazing, you can pop multiple resistance charges at the same time, and the gun is arguably faster at charging in situations, the only negative is no more bonus health from absorption, but I think it was a worthwhile trade-off honestly. I hardly ever run out of charges now.

>>332007220

idk, vaccinator isn't a very common medigun, I'm the only medic I've ever encountered who has put this much time into the weapon.
>>
>>332007209

Also the crit resistance was always a bug, never intended. You can still make the vacc sniper work if you time your charges. I've done that with my pocket before.
>>
>>332007501
Pyro against pubs is crazy fun though, you can wreck shit if you know what you're doing.
>>
>>332007220
>So is there a TF2 "meta"
Stock scout, stock soldier, and stock demo are the core of TF2.
>what are the OP weapons for those
Default scout is great, with basher for helping medics build uber when necessary.

There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING that makes pyro OP or even remotely good/viable. He is outclassed in absolutely every way by every single other class in the game. His one and only purpose is to push away ubercharged combos, and having that one thing going for him just isn't enough to make him worth playing as more than a temporary situational pick. Definitely not worth investing time into.
>>
>>332007637
Oh, I agree that Pyro is one of the most fun classes to play, especially in pubs. The feeling I get when I come up behind a stacked cart with the Backburner after a Det jump or two is arousal of the highest level.

It's just a shame the class is so badly balanced.
>>
>>332007912
Yeah, I guess if I get to try matchmaking I'll stick to being an objectives scout or demo.

I feel a bit like there's not much you could do to Pyro to make him balanced without ending up making him OP.
>>
>>332007912
all they need to do is increase range, fix dumb shit like flamethrower mojo, and make airblast not stop flamethrower m1
>>
There seems to be a few people here who know what they're doing. I like The Original more than stock on Soldier, because of the way it's situated, am I gimping myself anyhow or is literally just stock in a different position.
>>
>>332008481
My fiancee digs the Original, and he cleans house as soldier.
>>
Anybody else love MvM?

I especially like the ghost town map, where you face massive waves of incredibly powerful bots but start with a ton of money.
>>
>>332009261
I love MvM. Especially more than recent horde shooters like PD2 and KF2. But nobody plays vanillia expert without quitting and it's pretty much dead.
>>
>>332007228
Fair enough then.
>>
>>332008481
My understanding is that Original rockets come from the middle of the screen but stock rockets come very slightly from the right, which is worse somehow.
>>
>>332008481
It is literally just the stock launcher in a different position. There are a few very specific peeking/spam angles in which the stock RL has an advantage, but that's about it.
