What does /v/ think about Onimusha? I only own Onimusha 3 on steam and its pretty enjoyable. Its got a playable Jean Reno.
A decade later and I'm still annoyed that Reno was barely actually in it.

Dawn of Dreams on ps2 had 2 player coop so that sold me on that game at least

Played the first two and thought they were alright. Some cool designs but the characters were all mostly forgettable and boring, while the combat was promising but ultimately ruined by the horrible camera.
Currently playing through the third game but it doesn't look like any of the problems I have with the series have been fixed.
>Finish first game
>it has a teaser for the second game
I felt a little insulted after that
Great
Ni Oh looks similar

Play the first and second one
>those cgi intros
>>331852797
>it has a teaser for the second game
I like that it was pretty much beta footage.
>Jubei with an eyepatch.

I just disappointed on how easy the final boss was
>doing the last extra dungeon for ultimate weapon for Samanosuke
>"sweet, I'll use this later when all of my weapons run out of oni"
>Nobunaga already dead on the third weapon
>>331852595
>ruined by the horrible camera
Never played Resident Evil, or any survival/horror have you?
Fuck off, underagefriend.

Actually I have, and I enjoyed them. In the Onimusha games, however, it was incredibly annoying. In RE you're often fighting slower enemies and using a ranged weapon, eliminating the need to be running around a lot. Onimusha on the other hand is mostly melee combat, so you're always running around chasing ninja while the camera snaps between different angles.

Hated it. But that's because I've tried it after playing DMC3SE.
HD COLLECTION FUCKING WHEN CAPCOM?
haven't played since 2004, will I be disappointed now in 2016?
>>331853653
Kind of a shame the two games couldn't co exist. DMC changed my view on pretty much all action games due to how good those games are, but I can appreciate a different style of action game. I'd be down for a Onimusha reboot if it ever happens.
>>331853675
Never, Capcom said a while ago that it just isn't worth it, since they have to pay Kaneshiro, Matsuda and Reno rather substantial sales royalties for their likenesses.
>>331852126
I prefer Dawn of Dreams, it had the best controls and gameplay.
1&2 aged poorly and 3 was wasted potential.
>>331853470
>Never played Resident Evil, or any survival/horror have you?
How exactly were the Onimusha series survival horror? Tank controls for action games is shit.
DMC also suffered from RE influences.
>>331852126
it had motherfucking jean reno, what's more to say?
Also dawn of dreams was too fucking long
Opinions on Dawn of Dreams always seem split down the middle. What exactly went wrong?
The first 3 were amazing.
4th was playable but got boring.
>>331855373
You know, I really can't put my finger on it. Its good...it just seems like so far in you're just playing it for the sake of finishing it.
>>331852126
i've heard that the reason why the new Onimusha is shit it's because they spent all the budget on animating Jean Reno nose.
>>331855768
Wasn't 3 really bad on PC? Like DMC3 tier bad?
>>331855901
Absolutely Godawful (Quite possibly worse than DMC3), as were lots of early-mid '00s console ports.
>>331855901
It lacks pretty much any added options you'd expect from a PC port, but it works and that's all I want.
>>331855373
Onimusha always seemed a bit grounded while Dawn of Dreams went full anime
I liked them all though, they all had amazing sound detail and music. Gameplay really had a good swordplay feel to it.
>>331855373
Lots of equally bad and good ideas plus a departure from the regular formula.
Being forced to take along certain characters to solve puzzles, the extra backtracking, copy/paste weapons everywhere, and the ruined Dark Realm are what stop me from replaying it.
>>331852126
I liked the final boss fight in 2 better
>>331857123
Bad taste.
>on steam
1 on xbox is my favorite
