I'm an experience picross player and I just found out about the Picross e series on the eShop. Since there are 6 installments available and I don't want to go and buy all of them at once I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations.
Also why is picross the best puzzle game?
Why don't you just get the first one, then when you finish that get the next one and so on.
And if you haven't played them, try Mario's Picross and Picross 2 for the Game Boy.

Just buy them in order. Or you could get 6 and work your way back. But 4 and onward give you bonus puzzles for having 1-3. e2 introduced Micross which has you solving an 8x8 puzzle that is made up of little 10x10 puzzles. e3 introduced MegaPicross in which clues span two rows or columns and is a lot harder.

You have numbers on a line. That's how many blocks are taken out of that line. Once that's done with everything, you've solved the picture. However, single numbers mean a group of pieces gone, so "10" means just one whole section of 10 blocks together and "5 5" means two separate sections of 5 on that line.

Basically you put up with the terrible paywalls or you plunk down $30 to unlock the whole game. I would pay that for a boxed game, but not for a Picross game, especially when they have six full featured Picross e games for $7 each.

pokemon picross does have a lot more content than any individual e-# game though. i've only spent about 8$ on it and i've already got 24 hours on it, and i don't even have half the puzzles done normally (i do it with no pokemon first for a normal solve, then afterwards do it to get the missions) and the picross e games lasted me all around 20-25 hours except e-5 which lasted me 40. so all things considered even if you pay full price the content per dollar should line up with most of the e-# games.

Everyone ITT should check if their 3DS is on firmware 10.5 or below, if so you can CFW the thing and have all the Picross you want.
Pokemon Picross is a hell of a lot better when you aren't worrying about picrites or energy or whatever, although even then you have to wait a lot of real hours for mythical pokemon levels to show up.
